Live Blog: Yorkshire v Lancashire, Day 3

Welcome to Day Three of Lancashire's latest LV=County Championship clash against Yorkshire.

4.25pm, CLOSE Day 3
Play has been abandoned for the day due to unfit and unsafe conditions.

Water has risen to the surface in key areas where there has been most activity including the bowler's run ups.

Both teams agreed with the decision to call play off for the day.

UPDATE
Following another inspection by the umpires, areas of the playing surface have been deemed unfit and unsafe. A further inspection will follow.

LATEST
There has been no resumption of play since tea and we are waiting for an update from the umpires.

2.40pm, TEA Day 3.
Lancashire 411-2, Wells 97* Bohannon 74*
We are having an early tea after a lengthy injury to Yorkshire's Dom Leech.

Leech ran round the boundary attempting to prevent a four, slid into the concrete fence beyond the boundary and suffered what looks like a nasty injury to his left leg.

After lengthy pitch-side treatment from the medical staff he has been taken off on a stretcher and we hope is injury isn't as bad as it looked.

2.20pm, 119.0 overs
Lancashire 393-2, Wells 88* Bohannon 65*
Lancashire are scoring quickly after lunch as we head towards a declaration you would think this afternoon.

Luke Wells has hit Dom Bess and Steve Patterson for sixes over long-off and Bohannon has just hammered Patterson through midwicket for four more.

The top 4 batsmen have all scored half-centuries in this match and the same four did likewise in the Emirates Old Trafford match in May.

1.10pm, LUNCH DAY 3, 112.0 overs
Lancashire 346-2, Wells 63* Bohannon 51*

The 110th over proved to be pretty eventful!

Josh Bohannon clubbed Jordan Thompson high over extra cover for a six and two balls later pulled to midwicket to reach his fifty! It came off just 78 balls and this pair have added 90 runs for the second wicket.

After 110 overs Lancashire were 342-2 so the bonus points gained are Lancashire 3, Yorkshire 0, and the hosts will be regretting that dropped catch this morning.

At the break the Red Rose have put themselves into a strong position.

12.45pm, 106.0 overs
Lancashire 320-2, Wells 57* Bohannon 31*
Four overs to go before the cut-off point for bonus points. Lancashire have 3 and Yorkshire 0 so far!

Luke Wells has reached his second Lancashire half century, both of them against Yorkshire, after pulling Dom Leech to square leg for the 8th boundary of his innings.

Both batsmen are going well this morning with Bohannon striking four boundaries since surviving that dropped catch at slip.

12.25pm, 102.0 overs
Lancashire 288-2, Wells 42* Bohannon 15*
Luke Wells has driven Ben Coad for the first boundary of the day to move on to 42 and Josh Bohannon has just been dropped off Dom Leech at first slip on 11.

Bohannon then drives Leech through midwicket for four.

12noon, 96.0 overs
Lancashire 273-2, Wells 35* Bohannon 7*
Play finally getting under way after yesterday’s washout and today’s delayed start.

There are 88 overs to be bowled today with lunch at 1.10pm.

So we have a 70-minute session that will be crucial as Lancashire aim for at least one more batting point before the 110 over cut-off for bonus points arrives.

10.50am
The umpires have made their inspection and decided that play will start at 12pm with 88 overs to be bowled today.

10.00am
Good morning from Headingley where it is dry with bright clouds and far better than yesterday!

However a prompt start at 11am looks unlikely.

The umpires made a lengthy inspection at 9.30am with the outfield at the Emerald Stand end seemingly the main area of concern following yesterday's downpour.

A further inspection will be made at 10.30am.
