Mahmood and Parkinson shine for England in Cardiff
Lancashire duo Saqib Mahmood and Matt Parkinson both shone on England’s nine wicket over Pakistan in Cardiff.
After a COVID outbreak in the England camp a brand new squad had to be selected for the Pakistan series. After both impressing for Lancashire across all forms so far this season they was both rewarded with a place in the squad.
Mahmood was the pick of the England bowlers taking (4-42) of his 10 overs. He took two wickets in his first over including the wicket of Pakistan captain Babar Azam. Along with the wickets of opener Imam-ul Haq (0), Saud Shakeel (5) and Faheem Ashraf (5).
Meanwhile Parkinson picked up (2-28) off just seven overs. He claimed the wicket of the dangerous Fakar Zaman who top scored with 47 and Hasan Ali (6) as England bowled Pakistan out for 141.
Dawid Malan (68*) and Zak Crawley (58*) were both unbeaten at the end as England cruised home in just 21.5 overs.
England take a 1-0 lead in the series with the next match at Lords on Saturday.
