Day Two report from Lancashire's Second XI Championship match against Nottinghamshire at Lady Bay CC
Lancashire's Second XI dominated the second day of their Championship match away to Nottinghamshire.
The Red Rose second string resumed on 309-2 and George Lavelle continued to score runs freely following his unbeaten century on Day One.
He put on productive stands with George Bell (35), Jack Blatherwick (42) and Luke Young (38*) before he was eventually run out for 174 as Lancashire looked for quick runs ahead of a declaration. Lavelle batted for a total of 489 minutes, facing 357 balls, striking 18 fours and a six.
Young and Jack Morley (20*) added another 56 to the total before the declaration came at tea with Lancashire 490-7.
The evening session saw opening pair Liam Hurt (2/45) and Blatherwick (3/14) rip through the Notts top order, leaving them 34-5 with only opener Ben Compton (15) reaching double figures out of the home side's top five.
In the final hour Dane Schadendorf and Matt Carter fought back hard as Notts closed 105-5, still trailing by 385 runs with the Red Rose firmly in control heading into Day Three at Lady Bay CC.
