Second XI tie Roses T20 clash
Lancashire's Second XI concluded their T20 North Group campaign with a dramatic low scoring tie against Roses rivals Yorkshire at Weetwood Sports Ground.
Lancashire won the toss and elected to bat first in Leeds. George Balderson (11) and George Lavelle (1) went early which saw Josh Bohannon and Rob Jones come together in the middle.
Bohannon and Jones put on a 40 run partnership and were the mainstays of the Lancashire innings.
At the start of the 11th over Lancashire found themselves 67-2 but quickly slipped to 67-4 as Bohannon was bowled for 39 and Luke Wells went for a duck two balls later.
Jones was dismissed for 41 at the start of the 18th over with the score 106-8. Liam Hurt struck a quick fire 19 from 9 balls which included three boundaries as the Red Rose finished their innings 130-8.
Balderson (2/13) and George Burrows (1/18) made sure Yorkshire got off to a difficult start in their pursuit of 131, with the hosts finding themselves 16-3 after just 3 overs.
Wells (1/31) and Jack Morley (2/23) ensured Yorkshire wickets kept falling, with both sides feeling like a victory was still possible.
A seventh wicket partnership of 39 looked like it would be enough to guide Yorkshire to victory until Hurt returned to the attack and picked up two wickets to leave the match in the balance.
Hurt who finished with figures of 2/30 from his four overs was able to defend the nine needed for a Yorkshire victory in the final over as the two great rivals finished tied, with both sides having made 130-8 from 20 overs.
