Sporting declarations fail to force a win in Second XI Roses clash
Lancashire's Second XI Championship game against Yorkshire ended drawn at Scarborough
Lancashire's game with Roses rivals Yorkshire in the Second XI Championship ended drawn. With Day One washed out and time lost on Day Two, it was always going to be difficult for either side to force a win.
Yorkshire resumed the final day on 22-0, leading by 127 after Lancashire had declared 195-5 late on Day Three in reply to the home side's 300-6.
Jack Blatherwick (2/50) added to his three wickets in the first innings by removing both James Wharton and Tom Loten cheaply.
Spinners Jack Morley (3/27) and Tom Hartley (1/45) accounted for the other wickets before Yorkshire declared on 179-6.
The sporting declaration teed Lancashire up for a chase of 285 to win from 58 overs in the final two sessions.
Owais Shah (20), Taylor Cornall (35) and JJ Fielding (24) all made starts, but with the score 123-5 the two sides shook hands on a draw at Scarborough.
