Vitality Blast quarter-final at Somerset confirmed

Lancashire Lightning will face Somerset away in the quarter-final stage of the 2021 Vitality Blast

After beating Yorkshire Vikings by four wickets to secure third place in the North Group, it was confirmed on Sunday evening that Lancashire Lightning will travel to Somerset - who qualified second in the South Group.

The quarter-final will take place at the County Ground, Taunton on Thursday 26 August and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Cricket.

This is the 14th occasion Lightning have qualified for the T20 quarter-final stage, advancing to Finals Day eight times.

Lancashire have played Somerset in the quarter-final stage once before, in 2009, when after three consecutive washouts Somerset progressed following a bowl-out held in the Indoor Cricket Centre at Emirates Old Trafford.

The two sides have met in the competition on one other occasion, the 2005 final at the Oval which Somerset won by seven wickets.

The other quarter-final ties will see Notts Outlaws host Hampshire Hawks, Yorkshire Vikings take on Sussex Sharks and Birmingham Bears travel to Kent Spitfires - all live on Sky Sports Cricket.
