Lamb stars as Second XI kick off T20 North Group at Leicestershire
Lancashire Second XI got underway in the T20 North Group yesterday (16 May) with a double header at Kibworth against Leicestershire.
Both teams picked up a win with Lancashire winning the first T20 by 23 runs before Leicestershire secured a 49 run win in the second game of the day.
Lancashire fielded a strong line up with Rob Jones, Tom Hartley, Jack Blatherwick, Liam Hurt and the returning Richard Gleeson - who signed a white ball contract over the winter.
In the first game, Karl Krikken’s team lost the toss and were asked to bat first. Lancashire posted 140-9 frpom their 20 overs, Danny Lamb top scoring with 30 hitting two fours and two sixes.
There were also contributions with the bat from JJ Fielding (26), George Bell (25) and Tom Hartley (16).
Gleeson then took 3-23 while Blatherwick (2-7) and Tom Hartley (2-17) took two wickets a piece as Leicestershire were bowled out 117 in 19 overs.
As it was in the earlier game, Leicestershire won the toss for game two but this time elected to bat.
Danny Lamb picked up a five wicket haul claiming figures of 5-18 as Leicestershire were bowled out for 148 in 18.1 overs.
Lamb picked up his fifth wicket when he bowled former Lancashire man Gavin Griffiths for 2.
Nick Welsh top scored with 29 while Arron Lilley also formerly of Lancashire hit 27 including four fours and one six.
In reply, the spin of Scott Steel (3-25) and Rehan Ahmed (2-23) - one of England’s U19 World Cup stars in the West Indies shared five wickets, as Lancashire were bowled out for 99 falling 49 runs short of their target.
