Lancashire signed wicketkeeper Brooke Guest, then 19, on a summer contract for the 2017 season, although the Englishman-cum-Aussie has yet to make his first-team debut for the club.
Guest, born in Manchester but has played for Australia Under 19s, impressed the county through his performances for Sale Cricket Club, earning him some second-team cricket in 2016. He averaged nearly 40 with the bat in three-day Championship cricket.
He was also part of the side that won the one-day Trophy against Somerset at Emirates Old Trafford that August.
Guest returned to Old Trafford on contract for 2017 having spent the winter at home in Perth, where he plays for the South Perth club alongside Rob Jones.
The right-hander played once for Australia Under 19s, and he was even named in their 2016 World Cup squad before they withdrew from the competition in Bangladesh due to security concerns.
He has now committed his future to England having also featured for Western Australia’s Under 17s and Under 19s sides alongside now senior Aussie international Jhye Richardson.
Having played a significant part in the club’s pre-season tour of Dubai ahead of the 2017 campaign, Guest went on to help Lancashire’s second team reach T20 Finals Day and win the three-day Championship title.
He scored 395 runs from nine matches with three fifties, including a best of 96 not out, and claimed 21 catches behind the stumps.
Guest will be 20 at the start of 2018. He has also signed another summer contract with the Club for the 2018 season.
