Lancashire Cricket sets up dedicated reporting channel to report discrimination
Lancashire Cricket can announce that the Club has set up a dedicated reporting channel for anybody who wishes to report prejudice, discrimination, or abuse during their time at Emirates Old Trafford.
The dedicated email address [email protected] has now been established as part of an ongoing approach to improving Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion across all aspects of Lancashire Cricket which lies at the heart of our Club strategy.
Any reports which are made via the reporting channel will then be subject to a subsequent thorough investigation, conducted with immediate effect by Lancashire Cricket.
This dedicated channel is open to anybody who feels they have been subject to – or has witnessed – discriminatory behaviour whilst being part of a Lancashire Cricket environment.
The Club would like to assure anybody who makes a disclosure that information that they provide will be held in the strictest confidence and treated with the upmost seriousness.
Lancashire Cricket strongly condemns all forms of discrimination and is incredibly saddened by recent events that have damaged the reputation, values and spirit of cricket.
Discrimination of any form has no place in cricket - or society - and we all have a role to play in ensuring that message is unequivocal.
Daniel Gidney Chief Executive of Lancashire Cricket said: “Lancashire Cricket is fully aware of its responsibility – along with the entirety of English Cricket – to ensure that our game takes every step possible to eradicate discrimination.
“Azeem Rafiq spoke with great courage and bravery during his testimony at the DCMS Select Committee review earlier this week and it is now our duty to help the game to move forward, whilst ensuring that anybody who has been discriminated against gets the full investigation they are entitled to.
“I would urge anybody who has been the victim of, or witnessed, discrimination during their time at Emirates Old Trafford to come forward and I can assure you will be treated with the upmost respect.”
