Lancashire Cricket Celebrates International Women's Day

Lancashire Cricket is proud to once again commemorate International Women’s Day - worldwide day that marks the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

The Club is currently supporting a series of initiatives that celebrate women's achievements and raise awareness against bias and taking action for equality, in line with this year’s theme: #EmbraceEquity.

Hilton becomes Official Partner of Lancashire Thunder and launches ‘No Boundaries’ campaign

Lancashire Cricket and Hilton Hotels have today announced a new collaboration to develop female athlete health, with the aim of becoming a leading provider of bespoke education and support in cricket and women’s sport.

To kick-off the partnership Lancashire Cricket and Hilton Hotels unveiled ‘No Boundaries’, a campaign to create awareness for the initiative that is focused on empowering women players to fulfil their potential and enjoy playing at Lancashire knowing they have a holistic support package.

Hilton Hotels is passionate about removing obstacles for women in sport and the company’s investment will enable the provision of sport psychology, nutritional and educational support, and the employment of two new medical positions by Lancashire Cricket Club to help enhance women’s players performance.

No Boundaries is supported by an educational content series featuring conversations with key staff and players on the impact of the campaign on performance and player well-being. This will run throughout the year across all Lancashire Cricket digital channels. You can view the campaign launch film below, and click here for more details on the partnership and campaign.

Lancashire Thunder head to Dubai and Mumbai for pre-season, headline T20 double header on May 25

The Club is delighted to announce that Thunder will once again travel to Dubai for a pre-season, together with the men’s team. Following an initial training camp in the UAE, the squad will then head to India where they will train and play at Reliance Park – home of Mumbai Indians Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise. This visit will coincide with the first ever edition of the Women’s IPL.

Looking ahead to the upcoming season, on Thursday May 25 the Thunder will once again headline a T20 double header with the Lancashire Lightning at Emirates Old Trafford. Last year, the team became the first women's side to have played in the main event slot at Emirates Old Trafford when they faced Western Storm.

Lancashire Cricket hosts event at Emirates Old Trafford for staff to come together and watch 'Women in Cricket Zoom Live'

The Club invited all staff members to the Members' Suite to drop in and chat to their colleagues about what International Women’s Day means to them and to watch the 'Women in Cricket Zoom Live' together.

The session also included an introduction to the new ‘Women in Cricket Employee Network’ as well as a panel discussion around what equity can look like within the cricket network.

Lancashire Cricket and Emirates Old Trafford team-up with Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce

The Club has partnered with Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce to stage a Business Women's networking event of at Emirates Old Trafford today. Celebrating the #EmbraceEquity theme, a panel of expert speakers will be present to discuss the ways in which they are driving gender parity in their organisations.

The panel includes, Kelly-Marie Williamson, Director of Gambit International, Laura Tracey, Employment Partner at Freeths, Dr Catherine Sampa Muyeba, Regional Lead Consultant Psychiatrist, and Ella Telford, Northwest Regional Talent Manager for our Women's Team.

Ellie Threlkeld and Manchester City and Lionesses star, Lauren Hemp, sit down to discuss development of women's sport in Manchester

The pair sat down at Sixes Cricket Club to discuss their personal journeys to the top of their respective sports - as well as having a wider discussion on the comparative growth in interest and media exposure, for both cricket and football, in recent years.
