Lancashire Cricket commits to Manchester Pride’s ‘All Equals Charter’

Lancashire Cricket is proud to announce that the Club has signed the Manchester Pride All Equals Charter.

The ‘All Equals Charter’ has been developed leading LGBTQ+ charity Manchester Pride, with the aim to create a specific programme which promotes sustainable change within businesses and organisations.

After signing the charter, Lancashire Cricket has outlined its commitment to working closely with Manchester Pride who will support the Club on its equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) journey.

In September, Christopher Owen from Manchester Pride attended Emirates Old Trafford to deliver an EDI session which included details about the ‘All Equals Charter’ in addition to hosting a panel which discussed LGBTQ+ inclusion in sport.

By signing the ‘All Equals Charter, Lancashire Cricket have agreed to make the following commitments:

  • To celebrate the diversity of LGBTQ+ people
  • To implement policy standards
  • To challenge prejudice and discrimination
  • To work with Club Partners on the subject
  • To ensure fair recruitment procedures
  • To contribute to the modern pride movement
  • To ensure inclusive services

Speaking about the news, Helen Davies, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Lead at Lancashire Cricket said: “I am pleased to announce that we have signed the Manchester Pride All Equals Charter.

“Manchester Pride is one of the UK's leading LGBTQ+ charities and they have developed the All Equals Charter to create a programme that promotes sustainable change within organisations.

“We will be working closely with Manchester Pride who will support us in strengthening our EDI practices through events such as the workshop delivered by Christopher last month.”

Christopher Owens from Manchester Pride also commented: “I am so excited to work with Helen and the team at Lancashire Cricket to drive meaningful and intersectional LGBTQ+ inclusion forward.

“There is so much that needs to be done to make sport more inclusive, both in terms of building safe and welcoming communities and in terms of offering accessible and inclusive services and facilities. LGBTQ+ people are facing increasing health and fitness disparities, with huge numbers feeling unwanted in team sport.

“I am so proud of Lancashire Cricket for tackling this issue head-on and making a commitment to help create a world where everyone is free to live and love without prejudice.”
