The weather is deteriorating unfortunately and Lancashire are bowling spin at both ends because of the light.

There are still 26 overs left today so a lot could happen in that time.

5.00pm

Notts 1st inns 53-6 (24 overs) trail by 300 runs, Slater 26* Harrison 5*
Ten minutes to go before lunch due the extended playing hours and no further breakthrough for Lancashire since Anderson ended his spectacular spell.

Utterly amazing stuff from Jimmy who has 5-13.

That was brief!

Nathan Lyon drove first ball of the day from Lyndon James for four but was lbw for 12 to the third.

That brought James Anderson to the crease amid warm applause from the crowd and he managed a leg bye before Keaton Jennings took four off the last ball of the over to take Lancashire past 350 and claim a third batting point before declaring.

10.55am
Just the 1,230 Test wickets between these two!

10.30am
Thirty minutes away from the start and we have dry and bright weather at Trafalgar Road.

We are due to bowl 104 overs with lunch at 1.10pm and tea at 4pm.

10.00am
The rain has passed and the good news is that the covers are being taken off again, the players are back out warming up and the ground conditions appear to be okay.

The umpires will come out shortly to take a look but as things stand it looks like we should get away on time at 11am.

9.40am
That earlier optimism has been dampened by rain suddenly making an unwelcome return and the covers are back on the wicket.

9.00am
I'm pleased tto report we have better weather conditions this morning at Southport & Birkdale Cricket Club ahead of the third day of our Vitality County Championship match against Nottinghamshire.

The clouds are higher and brighter than yesterday and the ground conditions are dry. Hopefully it stays that way between now and the scheduled start at 11am.

We are due to play a minimum of 104 overs today with lunch at 1.10pm and tea at 4pm.

Currently both teams are out in the middle having net practice ahead of the start.
