Talk about starting ‘em young. Red Rose rookie batter Harry Singh is only 19, but he has been playing this great game for years.
Upon signing his first professional contract with the county, in March 2023, the Blackburn-born up and comer revealed that he first picked up a bat at the age of four.
He has since progressed through the county’s age-groups to play second-team cricket and for the England Under 19s, and in 2023 played for the Red Rose first team in the One-Day Cup warm-up clash with Cumbria at Sedbergh.
He scored one opening the batting in a victory before adding 2-27 from four overs of encouraging off-spin.
Singh is an opening batter by trade, one who has toured Australia with the England Under 19s. In the summer of 2022, in a Test Match draw against Sri Lanka at Derby, he hit a fine 104 in the first innings.
He matched that score in an early season second-team Championship win over Glamorgan at Crosby last summer.
Educated at Clitheroe Grammar School, he currently plays his club cricket for Urmston having previously played for the Woodbank club.
Harry is the son of former India international Rudra, who has previously worked with the old Lancashire Cricket Board. His sister Anjalie is also a former Red Rose women’s player.
Right-hander Harry made his Lancashire second-team debut in August 2020 and has gone on to play 23 matches in all cricket.
In June 2022, he amassed a patient 150 in a four-day second-team Championship draw against Derbyshire at Sale.
He played both Under 19s Tests against Australia at Brisbane in late January and early February 2023 - a 1-0 defeat - and hit a first-innings 67 in the opener.
