Player Profile
To make a senior county debut in your home town would surely be a bit of ‘pinch me’ moment for any player. That is exactly what happened to batter Danielle Collins some eight years ago.
In September 2015, Collins, then aged 15, played for Lancashire in a 20-over friendly against the Army at Bury, opening the batting and scoring 46 not out - the highest score of the match. Unfortunately it didn’t lead to a victory.
The left-hander has since scored a trio of half-centuries in a total of 33 appearances for the Red Rose women.
At the start of 2022, she helped them win the regionalised County T20 Cup title, beating Yorkshire at Northern CC. She has also played county cricket for Cumbria.
Collins played Under 15s and 17s cricket for Lancashire and has played women’s club cricket for Bolton side Astley Bridge and Bury side Tottington St John’s.
She has played 26 times for Thunder’s senior side in regional cricket since debuting in September 2020, including friendlies, and has a best of 32.
That actually came in the final game of 2022, a pulsating Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy win over Western Storm at Emirates Old Trafford. She batted at three in that fixture.
In 2015, for the Lancashire Under 15s Development side, she hit 96 opening the batting in a 40-over win over Northumberland at Longhirst.
The 22-year-old was a lone left-hander in the Thunder batting group, but ahead of 2023 she was given some company with the signing of Naomi Dattani.
