Player Profile
Spin bowling all-rounder Darcey Carter is one of Lancashire’s new recruits ahead of 2025.
The Scotland international spent a brief time on loan with the Red Rose late last summer, playing three 50-over matches and striking once with her off-spin.
Carter, who turns 20 in May, was born in Kent and came up through their age-groups. She qualifies for Scotland through her mother’s heritage and also played junior cricket for them before making her senior international debut in mid-2023.
She has played 30 times for Scotland in ODI and T20I cricket. She has claimed 23 wickets, including a best of three-for in each format, and has hit a trio of half-centuries with a 50-over best of 86.
Carter made her senior county debut for Kent in 2022 and played senior regional cricket for the South East Stars the following summer.
She played for all four matches for her country at last October’s T20 World Cup in Dubai and Sharjah, including against England and champions South Africa in the group stage. Ailsa Lister and Liv Bell were in the same team.
A tall and accurate off-spinner, Carter batted in the lower middle order for Thunder during last season’s brief loan spell in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.
She is closing in on 50 senior career appearances across 50-over and T20 cricket for all teams.
This year promises to be a particularly big one for Carter.
Not only will she want to hit the ground running in a Lancashire shirt, she will also be aiming to help Scotland qualify for October’s 50-over World Cup in India.
Through the bulk of April, they have a Qualifying event to contend with in Pakistan. The host nation and Scotland are joined by Bangladesh, Ireland, Thailand and the West Indies.
