Fi Morris is about to embark upon her third season as a Lancashire player, and she has had quite the impact at Emirates Old Trafford across the first two.
Morris is the dictionary definition of a genuine all-rounder. She bats, bowls and is a gun in the field.
She even has her own business which concentrates on the art of throwing - techniques and injury prevention, that sort of thing. It’s called The Throwing Academy.
Morris bats in the top order and is aggressive, and she bowls off-spin.
The 31-year-old arrived in the North West from Western Storm ahead of 2023, and she ended that campaign as Lancashire Thunder’s player of the year and the T20 player of the year as well.
In 23 appearances for Thunder, in all cricket, she hit 396 runs with one fifty and took 19 wickets with a best of 3-33. That haul included 209 runs and seven wickets in the Charlotte Edwards T20 Cup.
It was oh so nearly the perfect summer given Thunder reached Finals Day in that competition - their first as a region. Unfortunately, they were beaten in the semi-final.
In 2024, Morris impressed again. Looking at all cricket, including friendlies, she posted 523 runs from 25 matches and claimed 29 wickets.
In terms of standout performances, there were a few to note. She hit 89 in an early-season Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy 50-over game against eventual champions Sunrisers at Emirates Old Trafford and later hit an unbeaten 103 in a friendly win over the Netherlands.
In the latter stages of the RHFT campaign, a defeat at Sale, she returned a superb career best 6-35 against The Blaze at Sale.
Morris, Reading-born, has played for a number of teams, starting with Oxfordshire. Berkshire, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Southern Vipers, Western Storm, Southern Brave, Welsh Fire and Manchester Originals are also on the list.
She is closing in on 250 senior career appearances across List A and T20 cricket and has scored over 3,200 runs and more than 260 wickets.
Morris knows exactly what it takes to challenge for, and win, trophies having done it regularly throughout a senior career which started in 2008.
She won the County Championship with Hampshire in 2018 and has also played in the finals of the Kia Super League with the Vipers the following summer and the Hundred with the Brave in 2021.
In 2023, whilst playing for the Originals against Birmingham Phoenix in a Hundred match at Emirates Old Trafford, she claimed a remarkable 5-7 and described it as her best ever day on a cricket field.
Fritha Mary Kie Morris has a List A best of 127 to her name with the bat.
She has represented various England Development and Academy sides, including an Under 19s tour to South Africa in late 2013. Eleven years on, she played for an England Development XI against the touring senior New Zealand team at Leicester, selection which highlighted her fine performances in Red Rose colours.
Ahead of 2024, she spent part of her winter playing club cricket for Sydney side Gordon.
Morris graduated from Exeter University in 2015 with a degree in Sports Science, and she has worked as a sports therapist.
