Kate Cross signs for Perth Scorchers in Women's Big Bash
Lancashire pace bowler Kate Cross has joined the Perth Scorchers for this year’s Women’s Big Bash League competition, starting in December.
Cross who plays for both Lancashire Women and Lancashire Thunder in the Kia Super League, became the first female cricketer to be accepted into the Lancashire Academy, back in 2006. She has also represented England in all three formats on the international stage.
She has been playing state cricket down under for Western Fury already this winter and will meet up with her new teammates this week, ahead of their opening match on December 1.
Cross, who featured in the first edition of the WBBL for Brisbane Heat, has played in every KSL campaign for Thunder, taking seven wickets in 2018.
Speaking after the announcement, she said:"I've always loved my time playing in Perth and I'm very excited to be pulling on the orange shirt for WBBL04.
“Lisa Keightley reached out to me and asked would I be interested in playing Big Bash this summer, it was an easy question to answer I said yes straight away.
“To be playing alongside the likes of Meg Lanning, Elyse Villani and Nicole Bolton is so exciting.
“I’m going to enjoy not bowling against Meg as an opposition bowler this time round, I’ve been on the receiving end of some of her big knocks before."
