Georgie Boyce and Alice Dyson join Lancashire Women

Georgie Boyce and Alice Dyson join Lancashire Women

Pair sign up ahead of 2019 season

Lancashire Cricket is delighted to announce the double signing of Georgie Boyce and Alice Dyson for Lancashire Women.

The pair are already familiar to the Red Rose as both spent the 2018 Kia Super League campaign with Lancashire Thunder.

20 year-old Boyce, who joins from Nottinghamshire, is a batting all-rounder and played nine times for Thunder in last year’s KSL – her top score of 38 came away to beaten finalists Loughborough Lightning. She has also been part of the England set-up since 2014.

Dyson, a tall seamer who has signed from Derbyshire, has been in Thunder’s squad for the last two seasons and is also part of the England Women’s Development programme.

Speaking after signing for Lancashire Women, Georgie Boyce said: “I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to play my county cricket with the Red Rose.

“I enjoyed my campaign with Lancashire Thunder in the Kia Super League last year and I am looking forward to playing regularly with this great group of girls.”

Alice Dyson, added: “I have been in and around the Lancashire Thunder set up for the last couple of seasons now, so I know exactly what this Club is all about.

“The Trafford Cricket Centre at Emirates Old Trafford is a fantastic place to train and I can’t wait to start playing competitive cricket in May.”

The double signing announcement follows the news that former Pakistan international cricketer Atiq Uz-Zaman has been appointed as Head Coach for the 2019 season.

He commented: “Georgie and Alice are both talented cricketers and will improve our squad significantly.

“It is a great help that they already have experience with Lancashire Thunder and will help them to settle into the dressing room quickly.

“I am looking forward to working with them both for the remainder of our winter sessions, before beginning the season against Hampshire in May.”

It has also been confirmed that long-serving First XI player, Jess Couser, has moved to Warwickshire due to work circumstances, while Ella Telford, who joined Lancashire in 2017, has moved to Yorkshire – the Club wish both players well.

Lancashire Women kick off their campaign with a trip to Hampshire on Sunday 5 May.
