Defeat for Second XI at Southport
Notts Second XI chased down 161 to win by 7 wickets and beat Lancashire on the final day of their Championship match at Southport.
An unbeaten 47 from opener Matt Montgomery and contributions throughout the top five from Sol Budinger (42) and Calvin Harrison (39*) saw the visitors knock off the target in 43.3 overs.
This was despite spinner Jack Morley’s best efforts who took all three wickets taking 3-52 and finishing with eight wickets in the match.
Lancashire resumed the final morning with Matty Hurst and Jack Blatherwick at the crease on 122-7 with a lead of 86.
The Red Rose second string managed to post 196 thanks to Hurst - who carried on his fine start to the season after scoring a century at Leicestershire last week by finishing 58 not out.
Blatherwick hit 33 containing two fours and two sixes before he was removed by Toby Pettman who finished with figures of 4-55.
Liam Hurt (12) and Jack Morley (1) were the final two Lancashire wickets to fall before Notts reached their target.
