6.20pm, CLOSE Day 1
Warwickshire 273-7 after 96 overs, Sibley 118, McAndrew 9
What a great day's cricket we've just seen.

Dom Sibley scored a fine unbeaten century while Lancashire's bowlers were excellent, running in hard all day and getting late reward for their efforts, Tom Bailey finishing with 3-50.

5.55pm
Warwickshire 263-7 after 91.1 overs, Sibley 117, McAndrew 0
Danny Briggs departs for 1 to a great catch low down by Keaton Jennings at second slip and there is that Hassan Ali celebration for the first time today!

This has been a great thirty minutes by Lancashire.

5.55pm
Warwickshire 262-6 after 91 overs, Sibley 117, Briggs 0
And Tom Bailey strikes again! Michael Burgess is lbw for 18.

5.37pm
Warwickshire 240-5 after 87 overs, Sibley 113, Burgess 0.
The new ball does the trick for Lancashire as Tom Bailey has Chris Benjamin lbw for 47, the batsman trying to work the ball to the leg side.

That ends an excellent partnership of 99.

5.30pm
Warwickshire 240-4 after 86 overs, Sibley 113, Benjamin 47.
We have been playing with the floodlights on for the past half hour but the sunshine has now returned, as has Hassan Ali armed with the new ball in tandem with Tom Bailey.

5.00pm
Warwickshire 208-4 after 77 overs, Sibley 100, Benjamin 30.
Dom Sibley has reached his first century for Warwickshire since September 2019 from 227 balls with 13 fours after he pushes a single into the covers off George Balderson. A good time to be nudging those England selectors?

4.35pm
Warwickshire 192-4 after 70 overs, Sibley 90, Benjamin 24.
It has been an all seam attack since tea with Hassan Ali coming on at the James Anderson end to replace Tom Bailey. Luke Wood is operating at the other end and nearly tempted Dom Sibley into a drive to the fielder at mid-on only for the ball to fall a couple of yards short.

3.45pm, TEA Day 1
Warwickshire 168-4 after 64 overs, Sibley 76, Benjamin 16.
Another competitive and enthralling session comes to end with Warwickshire doubling their lunch score and Lancashire doubling their wickets tally.

Dom Sibley has held the visitors innings together with an excellent innings and has had a good battle with Matt Parkinson this afternoon, the leg spinner taking both of the wickets to fall.

3.00pm
Warwickshire 141-4 after 50 overs, Sibley 65, Benjamin 0.
Will Rhodes shows a bit of aggresion hitting Matt Parkinson for consecutive boundaries over mid-wicket but Parkinson comes back with a big spinning delivery that turns in to beat the batsman's defence and clatter into the stumps!

Rhodes departs for 16 and this has been a great contest so far today.

2.25pm
Warwickshire 117-3 after 40 overs, Sibley 57, Rhodes 0.
With Sibley and Hain making steady progress in the afternoon sunshine, Dane Vilas has turned to Matt Parkinson for the first time today and the leg spinner gets the breakthrough!

Hain comes down the wicket to Parkinson's sixth delivery and chips it straight to sub fielder Rob Jones at short extra cover to depart for 38.

Sibley went to his half-century earlier from 113 balls with 7 fours.

2.00pm
Warwickshire 92-2 after 34 overs, Sibley 49, Hain 21.
Tom Bailey and Luke Wood keeping things tight in the first 20 minutes after lunch with just a few singles added by Dom Sibley and Sam Hain, enough to bring up their 50 partnership, before Sibley edges Wood inbetween first and second slip for four. Not a catch - it bounced just in front of the cordon.

1.00pm, LUNCH Day 1
Warwickshire 84-2 after 29 overs, Sibley 44, Hain 19.
Dom Sibley has played some lovely drives off both front and back foot in his 44 after surviving some searching spells from Tom Bailey and Hassan Ali plus a mid-session tussle with Luke Wood.

It has been a fairly even session where Lancashire will feel they have been unfortunate not to have gained a third wicket on a good pitch.

But this has been a good partnership of 49 between Sibley and Hain in response to the loss of those early wickets.

12.45pm
A sight all fast bowlers love! Steven Croft congratulates Luke Wood after the bowler removes Rob Yates' off stump!

12.40pm
Warwickshire 64-2 after 23 overs, Sibley 35, Hain 8.
Lancashire think they've got Sam Hain but the umpire does not agree! A huge appeal for a catch behind is turned down off Luke Wood who then fires the next ball in short and it flies away over first slip for four byes!

Hassan Ali is now returning for a second spell, this time from the Brian Statham end and Tom Bailey is also back on for his second spell as Lancashire hunt a third wicket before lunch.

12.30pm
Warwickshire 58-2 after 21 overs, Sibley 33, Hain 8.
Fascinating battle developing between Dom Sibley and Luke Wood this morning. Wood has thudded a short delivery into Sibley's chest but the batsman responded with a superbly timed drive off the back foot for four through cover.

Sam Hain has just driven his first four straight back past George Balderson, lovely shot. Balderson responds with a great delivery that beats Hain outside off.

12.05pm
Warwickshire 33-2 after 16 overs, Sibley 20, Hain 0.
George Balderson finds the edge of Dom Sibley's bat in his first over but the ball drops tantalizingly just in front of second slip.

But Luke Wood then produces a beautiful yorker to have Rob Yates' off stump cartwheeling out of the ground! Yates out for 15.

11.50am
Warwickshire 29-1 after 13 overs, Sibley 18, Yates 11.
A good first over from Luke Wood who has replaced Hassan Ali at the Brian Statham End.

Tom Bailey is into his seventh over of an excellent spell but he has just been driven through cover for four by Dom Sibley but responds by getting Sibley playing and missing just outside off.

11.25am
Warwickshire 11-1 after 7 overs, Sibley 7, Yates 4.
Dom Sibley and Rob Yates are making cautious progress against a searching opening spell from Bailey and Hassan Ali. Some playing and missing, plus a couple of lbw shouts, but they survive.

11.10am
Warwickshire 0-1 after 2.2 overs, Sibley 0, Yates 0.
What a start for Tom Bailey who has bowled Alex Davies for a duck!
Davies left a delivery that nipped back to hit off stump.

Bailey and Hassan Ali are asking questions of the batsmen this morning!

Bailey and Davies, incidentally, made their first-class debuts in the same match against Surrey at Liverpool ten years ago.
