Player Profile
Experienced left-hand batsman Luke Wells joined Lancashire in November 2020, signing a two-year deal at Emirates Old Trafford as the Club moved to strengthen its batting depth.
Wells joined the Red Rose following a nine-year association with boyhood club Sussex, where he made 141 First-Class appearances.
During his time on the South Coast, the left-hander racked up nearly 8,000 First-Class runs at an average of over 35 and 18 hundreds to his name, with a career-high 258 struck against Durham in 2017.
Wells finished the 2017 season as the club's highest County Championship run-scorer, averaging 64.60 in the competition that year.
He is the son of former England player Alan Wells and made his Sussex debut back in 2010 as an opener, but has also batted at no.3 during his career.
Wells has also proved to be a more than useful bowling option throughout his career, claiming 69 wickets with his occasional leg-spin, including a career-best 5/63 against Glamorgan in 2019.
