Tom Hartley stars for Second XI at Essex
Day One Report
Tom Hartley took 6-59 as Essex closed the first day on 281-8 in the Second XI Championship clash at Billericay CC.
Essex in the 37th over were 167-1 before the left arm spin of Hartley ripped through the team.
Danny Lamb (1-34) picked up the first wicket of the morning removing Michael Pepper for 8 with the score on 13.
But then a second wicket partnership of 154 between Khushi (90) and Rymell (72) took the score on to 167-1.
Jack Blatherwick (1-40) made the breakthrough removing Khushi for a well made 90.
Hartley then bowled 25 overs in the heat and picked up his fifth wicket when he trapped Dwivedi leg before for 0.
Day Two Report
Tom Hartley followed up his 6-60 on Day One with his maiden Second XI Championship century versus Essex.
Hartley finished day two unbeaten on 104 as Lancashire closed on 199-5 trailing Essex by 104 runs.
Hartley hit 18 fours and one six in his century which came off 164 balls.
He shared an unbeaten sixth wicket partnership of 137 with Subhaan Mahmood who will resume on Day Three on 39 not out.
The pair came together with the score on 62-5 after Toole (3-45) made early inroads into the Lancashire batting line-up with the new ball.
Earlier in the day, Essex could only manage to add 22 runs to their overnight score of 281-8 as Danny Lamb picked up the final two wickets leaving the all-rounder with figures of (3-45).
