2nd XI T20 MATCH REPORT: Yorkshire win Roses T20 by six wickets

Unbeaten Group leaders Yorkshire made it five wins from five as the hosts won the Second Eleven T20 match at Barnsley by six wickets.

Lancashire had made a good start after being put, reaching 82-2 in the ninth over having lost openers Matty Hurst for 11 and George Balderson for 21.

George Lavelle and Tom Aspinwall added 47 in five overs but when both were out in quick succession, Aspinwall for 16 and Lavelle for 40 off 26 balls, the Red Rose innings faltered.

Cian Dickinson hit a six and one four in making 16 off 17 balls but the remaining batters all departed for single figures at the hands of Ben Cliff (3-34), Charlie McMurran (2-24) and off spinner Jack Shutt (2-13 off 4 overs) with Lancashire all out for 128 one ball into the 19th over.

James Wharton drove Will Williams to Jack Morley at extra cover having made 15 of 18 for the opening wicket in the Yorkshire reply, but Will Luxton and Harry Duke took 52 from the next four overs to put the hosts firmly in charge.

Duke pulled Balderson to Kurtis Watson at deep square leg for an 11-ball 21 that included two sixes, and on the same score of 70 Luxton edged behind off Watson for 33 (19 balls, 3x6, 3x4).

George Hill with an unbeaten 23 and Finn Bean, who struck 36 off 21 balls, steered Yorkshire to the verge of victory with a 55-run alliance before Bean top edged a pull off Aspinwall with four runs required for victory.

That followed from the first ball of the 14th over as Yorkshire wrapped up a convincing victory.
