Anderson named in 13-man squad to face Essex

Men's Head Coach Glen Chapple has named a 13-man squad for Lancashire Cricket's opening away trip of the season.

Chapple has no fresh injury concerns following last week's season opener against Surrey which ended drawn at Emirates Old Trafford and saw his side take a total of nine points.

James Anderson could be set to make his first appearance of the 2023 campaign as the Red Rose travel to Chelmsford to take on Essex in Division One of the LV= Insurance County Championship.

Fellow seamer Saqib Mahmood continues to build up towards full match fitness and is currently captaining Lancashire's Second XI in their Championship match against Leicestershire in Southport.

Lancashire remain without England trio Jos Buttler, Liam Livingstone and Phil Salt who are all currently away playing in the Indian Premier League.

Lancashire Cricket squad to play Essex:

Keaton Jennings (c), James Anderson, Tom Bailey, George Balderson, George Bell, Josh Bohannon, Steven Croft, Colin De Grandhomme, Tom Hartley, Rob Jones, Dane Vilas, Luke Wells, Will Williams
