Harry Singh signs first rookie contract with Lancashire Cricket
Lancashire Cricket is delighted to announce that England Under 19s opening batter Harry Singh has signed his first rookie contract with the Club.
18-year-old Singh has been part of Lancashire’s pathway system since the age of eight and joined the Academy in 2020.
The former Clitheroe Royal Grammar School attendee has recently returned from England Under 19s tour of Australia - where he scored 67 whilst opening the batting in the first Youth Test.
Singh – who plays his club cricket for Urmston Cricket Club - was a regular in Lancashire’s Second XI during the 2022 season, batting at the top of the order for Karl Krikken’s side.
Speaking in the LancsTV Studio at Emirates Old Trafford after signing his first rookie contract with the Club, Singh said: “I am very grateful to have been given this opportunity with Lancashire Cricket.
“I started playing cricket at the age of four, joined Lancashire’s pathway system at eight and have been on the Lancs Academy since I was 15 - so it has been a long journey for me to reach this point.
“I am looking forward to being around the first team squad on a more regular basis now and improving my skills by working with the great coaching staff we have here at the Club.”
Director of Cricket Performance Mark Chilton also commented: “Congratulations to Harry on signing his first rookie contract with us – I know it must be an extremely proud moment for him and his family.
“Harry has impressed during his appearances in the Second XI over the last couple of seasons and it was really pleasing for us to see him performing at the top of the order for England Under 19s in Australia last month
“To be able to spend more time around the First Team environment will only continue to improve Harry’s skillset and we are looking forward to him joining us on the pre-season tour to Dubai next week.”
