This has been a brilliant start by Phil Salt and George Balderson who have played some thrilling shots to race to fifty in ten overs.

4.20pm
Lancashire 1st inns 12-0 (2 overs) trail by 130 runs, Salt 8 Balderson 4
That was an eventful first couple of overs!

Phil Salt on-drove Keith Barker for four, was dropped at third slip, and then cracked Barker through cover for four more off the back foot.

That was followed by George Balderson edging Mohammad Abbas wide of slips for four, and then surviving a huge appeal for a caught behind.

3.57pm, TEA Day 1
Hampshire first inns 142 all out (60.4 overs)
Mason Crane takes on a short ball from Jack Blatherwick but only cross bats it high to Tom Bailey who takes a straightforward catch at mid-on.

That's completes an excellent effort with the ball, with three wickets each for Tom Bailey and Will Williams and a brace each for Tom Hartley and Jack Blatherwick.

Batting has been challenging so far today and Lancashire's batters will start their reply in around 20 minutes.

3.51pm
Hampshire first inns 142-9 (60 overs) Crane 12 Abbas 0
Kyle Abbott hits out off Tom Hartley but only into the hands of Will Williams running back at mid-off who takes a nicely judged catch over his head.

3.37pm
Hampshire first inns 134-8 (55 overs) Crane 12 Abbott 0
That's six and out!

Keith Barker's great effort ends at 44, the ball after he had driven Tom Hartley for six.

Hartley pitched the next ball up and turned it past Barker's drive to hit the stumps.

3.30pm
Hampshire first inns 127-7 (53 overs) Barker 37 Crane 12
Just past the halfway stage of the day and Dane Vilas turns to spin for the first time with Tom Hartley into the attack.

And there's a double bowling switch with Daryl Mitchell returning, this time at the Harrod Drive End.

Keith Barker is doing a great job for Hampshire but gets away with an edge wide of the slips off Mitchell.

And Mason Crane drives for four to bring up the 50 partnership.

2.55pm
Hampshire first inns 108-7 (46 overs) Barker 26 Crane 7
Keith Barker has driven to great effect as he leads a potential Hampshire counter attack.

He very nearly gave Will Williams a return catch when on 4, but survived to take the visitors past three figures.

The ball is still nibbling about to keep the bowlers very interested and this is developing into a great contest.

2.19pm
Hampshire first inns 76-7 (37 overs) Barker 2 Crane 0
Did I say tumble? Here's another wicket, this time Liam Dawson on 9 edges to Tom Hartley who takes a shoulder-high catch at third slip off Tom Bailey.

12.35pm
Hampshire first inns 48-2 (24 overs) Gubbins 16 Vince 14
James Vince has driven a couple of boundaries but scoring in the main has proved difficult as all the Lancashire have bowled a good line and length throughout the morning.

Jack Blatherwick and Will Williams, returning for a second spell, have both coming very close to making a further breakthrough with some excellent deliveries.

12.15pm
Hampshire first inns 34-2 (18 overs) Gubbins 16 Vince 3
Nick Gubbins clipped George Balderson neatly through square leg for four but edged the next delivery just short of first slip.

Joe Weatherley had struck a couple of nice boundaries and battled hard in the face of accurate opening spells by Tom Bailey and Will Williams, but he's departed for 15 courtesy of a fine catch by George Bell, low down, at gully off Bailey.
