Lancashire need 92 more runs tomorrow to clinch a first Championship victory of the season.

A let off for Dane Vilas who is dropped by James Vince at first slip diving to his left.

Josh Bohannon hammers Keith Barker through the covers for four to bring a bit of relief. It's tense out there!

Will Williams takes a stunning diving catch at third man to bring the Hamopshire innings to an end, Kyle Abbott getting a big top edge off Daryl Mitchell that spiralled down to Williams running around the boundary edge. Superb catch!

The Hampshire skipper on 87 pulls Daryl Mitchell to deep square leg where Josh Bohannon does not have to move to take the catch.

The visitors continue to battle hard as they extend the lead towards three  figures. It has been a good contest so far.

Tom Bailey breaks the developing seventh-wicket partnership as Keith Barker edges a pitched up delivery to Daryl Mitchell at first slip and he's gone for 18.

James Vince and Keith Barker are battling hard to try and build the Hampshire lead into something they can defend later today/tomorrow. They've added 40 runs for the seventh wicket so far.

There has just been one chance offered by Vince when he hoisted Will Williams high over the bowlers head. Dane Vilas ran yards andmade a great effort to pull off a one-handed diving catch but the ball didn't stick. tough chance.

James Vince reaches an 83-ball fifty and then drives George Balderson superbly for four.

That was a morning of contrasts after Hampshire had made good progress until George Balderson's burst of 3-6 late in the session.

George Balderson strikes again with a superb delivery to bowl Fletcha Middleton who departs for a career-best 77.

After 75 minutes play it's George Balderson who makes the breakthrough, trapping Nick Gubbins lbw for 62 to end 134-run partnership, and goodness Lancashire needed that.

George Bell bowled four tidy overs for 11 and he's been replaced by Tom Bailey while George Balderson has taken over at the Harrod Drive end.

Dane Vilas springs a bit of a surprise by bringing George Bell into the attack bowling off spin and he nearly gets a breakthrough with a big lbw shout after turning one sharply into Fletcha Middleton's pads.

Nick Gubbins and Fletcha Middleton both reach their fifties off consecutive deliveries and also raise their 100 partnership off 227 balls.

Tom Bailey and Will Williams resume the Lancashire attack as we get under way in sweltering conditions at Birkdale.

Wehave another lovely sunny morning at Trafalgar Road, with last night's thunderstorm now a distant memory.

The players are out on the ground going through their preparations ahead of play resuming at 11am.

Hampshire will resume their second innings on 119-1 trailing by 113 runs with Fletcha Middleton on 44 and Nick Gubbins on 45.
