LIVE BLOG: Lancashire v Somerset, Day Four

LIVE BLOG: Lancashire v Somerset, Day Four

4.50pm, MATCH DRAWN
Somerset 2nd inns 398-5, Rew 118 Aldridge 101.
The players finally shake hands on the draw with Lancashire taking 9 points from the game and Somerset 10.

4.05pm
Somerset 2nd inns 352-5, Rew 108 Aldridge 67, lead by 387 runs.
Back for the final session which I would guess will finish bang on 4.50pm.

Steven Croft returns, now bowling off spin, with George Bell operating at the other end.

3.40pm, TEA Day 4
Somerset 2nd inns 346-5, Rew 106 Aldridge 63, lead by 381 runs.
That's tea, and a merciful release from one of the most tedious passages of play you could wish to see.

3.20pm
Somerset 2nd inns 339-5, Rew 103 Aldridge 59, lead by 374 runs.
James Rew reaches his second century of the match with a pulled four, but the batter recognizes the situation and doesn't really celebrate, just a flick of the bat really.

Since the last update, George Bell has come on to bowl off spin and Josh Bohannon has taken over behind the stumps.....

2.40pm, NEW BALL TAKEN
Somerset 2nd inns 273-5, Rew 78 Aldridge 23, lead by 309 runs.
The new ball has been taken - but it's not Saqib Mahmood or Will Williams who it has been thrown to.

No, it is Steven Croft 'steaming in' from the Brian Statham end - possibly for the first time in his career!

And Dane Vilas has taken the ball at the James Anderson end.

I think it tells you what Lancashire think about the non declaration.

2.30pm
Somerset 2nd inns 259-5, Rew 69 Aldridge 17, lead by 294 runs.
Somerset are showing no signs of urgency this afternoon, so it seems a declaration is not imminent, although James Rew has just hooked a Luke Wells bouncer for four to bring up the fifty partnership.

We are halfway through today's overs with 48 left.

2.00pm
Somerset 2nd inns 235-5, Rew 57 Aldridge 6, lead by 270 runs.
James Rew has added a fifty to go with his  first innings century, and he has now become the leading run scorer in the Championship this season.

Tom Hartley and Luke Wells are currently sharing the bowling duties.

1.00pm, LUNCH Day 4
Somerset 2nd inns 211-5, Rew 42 Aldridge 0, lead by 245 runs.
Just 5 runs scored since the last wicket fell as Somerset rather dropped anchor to get to lunch without further mishap.

They lead by 245 runs so it seems we will have to wait until sometime in the afternoon for any declaration.

12.45pm, WICKET!
Somerset 2nd inns 206-5, Rew 37 Aldridge 0, lead by 241 runs.
Tom Lammonby has made his best score of the season but his attempt to hit Tom Hartley aggressively over mid-on has ended with George Bell stumping the Somerset opener for 78.

12.30pm
Somerset 2nd inns 194-4, Lammonby 71 Rew 32, lead by 229 runs.
James Rew has shown the first signs of aggression by Somerset this morning now the lead has gone past the 200-mark. He's hit five boundaries in 8 balls prompting Dane Vilas to make a change, bringing Daryl Mitchell on for the first time today.

11.57am
Somerset 2nd inns 161-4, Lammonby 65 Rew 5, lead by 196 runs.
Close call for Tom Lammonby who edges George Balderson between the slips and gully for four.

Tom Hartley is coming on to bowl for the first time today.

11.40am, WICKET!
Somerset 2nd inns 139-4, Lammonby 52 Rew 0, lead by 174 runs.
Will Williams makes the breakthrough, bringing the ball back in to Tom Kohler Cadmore who plays inside it and loses his off stump!

Gone for 11 and that brings first innings century-maker James Rew to the crease.

11.25am
Somerset 2nd inns 136-3, Lammonby 52 Kohler-Cadmore 10, lead by 171 runs.
Tom Lammonby has reached a 94-ball half century with Somerset making a cautious start to day four.

The early indications are that this could be a tough day for the bowlers.

11.02am
Somerset 2nd inns 115-3, Lammonby 40 Kohler-Cadmore 1, lead by 150 runs.
Saqib Mahmood resumes his over from yesterday, having taken a wicket with the second ball of the last over, to get proceedings under way this morning.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore gets a pretty good first ball that he edges on the bounce to first slip.

Will Williams is sharing the opening overs.

9.30am
Good morning from Emirates Old Trafford where we have warm, sunny conditions ahead of the fourth and final day of our LV= Insurance County Championship match against Somerset.

Todays hours of play are: Start 11am, Lunch 1.00pm, Tea 3.40pm.
There are a minimum of 80 overs to be bowled, plus a minimum of 16 in the last hour.

Somerset will resume their second innings on 114-3 with Tom Lammonby 40 not out, leading by 149 runs.

Daryl Mitchell joined a select group of two with his debut century yesterday, having taken three wickets in the Somerset first innings.

Only Ralph Whitehead had previously achieved this debut feat for Lancashire, back in 1908 against Notts at Old Trafford.
