That has been a fabulous effort by Josh Bohannon and Steven Croft who have batted through the whole session to give Lancashire a great chance of coming out of this game with a draw.

3.25pm
Lancashire 2nd inns 182-2 need a further 262 runs from a minimum of 40 overs.
Bohannon 78 Croft 29
Cam Steel comes back into the attack as the sunshine returns to Emirates Old Trafford after a cloudy afternoon.
Bohannon and Croft remain resolute.

3.00pm
Lancashire 2nd inns 167-2 need a further 277 runs from a minimum of 46 overs.
Bohannon 66 Croft 27
The 100 partnership between these two arrives from 220 balls but Josh Bohannon has a scare when he fends at a short ball from Kemar Roche which just lobs over short leg but falls short of square leg. A close call though!

There are some unusual fields being set as Surrey try to engineer a breakthrough; Abbott finished is last over with two fielders on the off-side and seven on the leg side.

The same field is being used by Roche.

2.45pm
Lancashire 2nd inns 160-2 need a further 284 runs from a minimum of 50 overs.
Bohannon 60 Croft 27
This is a great effort by Josh Bohannon and Steven Croft who are resolutely keeping Surrey at bay.

The only slight alarm came when Bohannon glanced Kemar Roach to leg with the ball bouncing just in front of leg slip, but otherwise these two have been solid.

2.25pm
Lancashire 2nd inns 149-2 need a further 295 runs from a minimum of 54 overs.

Josh Bohannon and Steven Croft have steadied matters after the loss of those two quick wickets about an hour ago, Bohannon striking some lovely boundaries, while the visitors will be disappointed they dropped the batter early in his innings.

12.40pm
Lancashire 2nd inns 98-2 need a further 346 runs from a minimum of 71 overs.

We've seen a couple more of nicely timed back foot drives from Josh Bohannon as we head towards lunch on this final day.

12.20pm
Lancashire 2nd inns 78-2 need a further 366 runs from a minimum of 76 overs.
Bohannon 6 Croft 4
Drop! Josh Bohannon gets a 'life' after Ollie Pope can't hang on to a diving catch at first slip with Sean Abbott the unlucky bowler.

And, of course, to rub it in Bohannon then square drives Abbott for four.

11.56am
Lancashire 2nd inns 65-2 need a further 395 runs from a minimum of 83.5 overs.
Luke Wells stands in the middle with his head bowed in despair after he pulls a short ball from Kemar Roach straight into the hands of Dan Worrall at fine leg for 45, so two wickets have now gone on the same score and the morning suddenly has a completely different complexion.

I was just writing that it had been a steady start to the day with 5 runs coming off the first 5 overs when Luke Wells produced a beautifully timed flick off his pads off Dan Worrall that sailed over square leg for six!

11.05am
Lancashire 2nd inns 38-0 need a further 406 runs from a minimum of 95 overs.
Wells 29 Jennings 9
Sean Abbott has bowled the first over of the day from the James Anderson End with one run added to the Lancs total, and Dan Worrall is now coming in to start the second over from the Brian Statham End.

10.45am

The start of play is just 15 minutes away and in the meantime here is our match report from yesterday.

Day 3 Report

9.30am
We have anotherfine, sunny morning at Emirates Old Trafford for this fourth and final day of our LV= County Championship match against Surrey with play starting on time at 11am.

Luke Wells (23 not out) and Keaton Jennings (9 not out) will resume with Lancashire 37-0 and needing a further 407 runs to win from a minimum of 96 overs.

Can they do it? It looks to be a difficult task against a very good Surrey bowling attack.

For context, Lancashire have only scored over 400 in a fourth innings three times, but one of them was against Surrey....
