That's a great effort over the last 70 minutes or so by Colin de Grandhomme and Will Williams to battle their way through to the close unscathed, the pair adding 36 runs for the ninth wicket so far.

Colin de Grandhomme and Will Williams are putting up a great effort here and are 6 overs away from stumps for the day.
Williams has just pulled Dan Worrall for four to square leg and then ducked under the next ball bouncer.

Colin de Grandhomme and Will Williams have stemmed the fall of wickets for now but still have a further 11 overs to negotiate if they are to reach the close of day two.

Two wickets go in the same over!

Luke Wood has chipped Abbott to Dan Worrall at midwicket and although the fielder juggled the ball he held on to put Lancashire deep in trouble.

Surrey's relentless probing has brought another success as George Bell on 20 edges behind off Sean Abbott with Ben Foakes taking a good diving catch.

A massive wicket falls! Jordan Clark spears in a full delivery that takes out Keaton Jennings middle stump, possibly deflected slightly off his pads, as the Lancashire captain looked to drive towards mid-on, and he's gone for 76.  

There are still nearly 23 overs left to bowl today which suggests the close of play will be around 6.30pm and a lot could happen before then.

Dane Vilas has gone straight after the break!

Dan Worrall banged in a short delivery and it looked like the ball came off the bottom edge that cannoned onto the stumps as Vilas attempted a pull! 

That's a big blow to Lancashire.

Keaton Jennings has played a fine knock so far to keep Surrey at bay and he and Dane Vilas will return in 20 minutes to resume with Lancashire still having a lot to do in the final session.

Keaton Jennings and Dane Vilas are going steadily although Vilas has just hammered a loose delivery from Steel through midwicket for four.

Steven Croft goes for 11 after top edging a short ball from Sean Abbott down to Kemar Roche at fine leg.

Oh no! Josh Bohannon is walking off slapping his bat with annoyance after playing a loose drive at spinner Cam Steel that goes straight to Sean Abbott at extra cover. 

He's gone for 32 and up to that point had played quite splendidly.

Josh Bohannon continues to produce some great shots, another driven four off Dan Worrall bringing up the fifty partnership from 73 balls.

Keaton Jennings and Josh Bohannon have made good progress in the last half hour with Bohannon producing a couple of glorious drives, the first through mid-on followed by another through mid-off in the same Jordan Clark over.

Luke Wells and Keaton Jennings had made a strong start after lunch with a flurry of boundaries but Wells has gone for 24 to a stunning catch by Ollie Pope at second slip, low down to his left, off the bowling of Sean Abbott.

Lancashire 1st innings 28-0 (10 overs) trail by 414 runs, Wells 16 Jennings 11
Opening pair Luke Wells and Keaton Jennings successfully negotiate the 10 overs bowled by Roach and Worrall before the break, Jennings driving Worrall through mid-off for four from the penultimate delivery of the session.

A nervous moment for Keaton Jennings who gets off the mark with an edge of Kemar Roach that just evades Sean Abbott third slip with the ball racing away to the third man boundary.

We are a couple of overs into the Lancashire innings with Surrey opening their attack with Kemar Roach at the Brian Statham End and Dan Worrall coming in from the James Anderson End.

Cam Steel and Dan Worrall have thumped 39 runs off 3 overs before Worrall tries one heave too many and is stumped by George Bell off Matt Parkinson for 18.

Steel's fine innings finishes unbeaten on 141 and that has taken Surrey to a fairly formidable total with 102 runs added quickly this morning.

Cam Steel and Kemar Roach have put bat to ball to good effect, posted a 58-ball fifty partnership to take Surrey past 400 and to 4 batting bonus points, but Luke Wood strikes with the last ball of the 110th over!

Kemar Roach feathers a catch to wicketkeeper George Bell to depart for 18 and Lancashire have got all three bowling points.

No nervous nineties for Cam Steel who reaches his century with a pull to midwicket for four after hitting Will Williams for six in the previous over!

His century came off 151 balls and is his first for Surrey.

Tom Bailey is right on the money there trapping Sean Abbott lbw for 42 to claim his fourth wicket of the innings.

Just the start Lancashire wanted this morning.

Tom Bailey is bowling the opening over of day two and Sean Abbott edges the first delivery wide of the slips for four to third man.

We have sunny conditions at Emirates Old Trafford and thankfully the strong winds from yesterday have been replaced by a gentle breeze.

Play will start on time at 11am when Surrey will resume their first innings on 340-7 with Cameron Steel 14 runs away from his maiden Surrey century and first hundred since 2018.

He will have Sean Abbott for company on 34 not out and so far this pair have added 62 runs for the eighth wicket. 

Lancashire will hope to these three remaining wickets pretty quickly with the visitors having built a pretty healthy total.
