Mahmood named in 13-man squad for Somerset
Men's Head Coach Glen Chapple has named a 13-man squad for Lancashire Cricket's match away to Somerset in the LV= Insurance County Championship.
Saqib Mahmood has been named in Lancashire's squad for the first time this season and could be set for a first appearance for the Red Rose since April of last year. Mahmood spent almost a year on the sidelines after suffering stress fracture of his back, during the early stages of last season.
He made his return to action during England's ODI series against Bangladesh in March. The 26-year-old has since been building up his fitness levels for a return to red ball cricket and last week took five wickets for the Second XI in Southport.
Mahmood replaces Rob Jones in the only change to the 13-man squad which travelled to Chelmsford last week as Lancashire played out a rain-affected draw against Essex.
Should Steven Croft be selected in the XI, he will become the first Lancashire player to make 200 first-class appearances for the county since Glen Chapple in 2007.
Lancashire Cricket squad to play Somerset:
Keaton Jennings (c), James Anderson, Tom Bailey, George Balderson, George Bell, Josh Bohannon, Steven Croft, Colin De Grandhomme, Tom Hartley, Saqib Mahmood, Dane Vilas, Luke Wells, Will Williams
