Thunder bowler Alex Hartley retires
This week, Alex Hartley announced that she will retire from all forms of cricket following The Hundred.
The left-arm spinner came through the Lancashire Cricket Academy from U13s level - before making her debut for the Red Rose senior team in 2010, aged 16.
2017 World Cup winner, Hartley, played 32 times in one day and T20 international cricket for England between 2016 and 2019, taking 43 wickets.
She was captain of Thunder for the first two years of regional cricket - and contracted - before handing over the reins to Ellie Threlkeld ahead of 2022.
"I'm hanging the boots up. I am officially retiring from cricket," Hartley said on her Podcast with Kate Cross. "I can't believe it, I feel so good.
"I have been thinking about it for ages and ages. I'm going to really miss it, I'm going to be really sad but it's so right.
"I've loved it, I've hated it but I am really proud of what I've achieved. It's everything that I've ever wanted to do.
Everybody at Lancashire Cricket would like to wish Alex all the best in her post-playing career.
