What is Project Servator?
Greater Manchester Police deploy specially-trained officers as part of Project Servator to enhance security measures already in place at our events. They deploy across the site and nearby as preparations for the events get under way and during the events themselves.
Some of these officers may be in plain clothes and they are trained to spot the tell-tale signs that a person may be conducting hostile reconnaissance – the information-gathering terrorists and other criminals need to do to plan their criminal activity.
They can turn up at anytime and anywhere so please don’t be surprised if you see them. Officers may be supported by other specialists such as search dogs, Police horses and firearms officers.
They will also be working closely alongside stewards and security at the event.
Project Servator has been used by Greater Manchester Police since 2016, and is routinely deployed across the area, including at events.
There is no specific threat to this event - it’s all about helping to ensure that everyone involved is safe and secure, and to make life difficult for criminals who may seek to use it as an opportunity to commit crime.
The officers will be speaking to members of the public to encourage them to be extra eyes and ears and report anything that doesn’t seem right.
You have an important role to play in helping to keep our streets safe by reporting anything that doesn't feel right, for example, an unattended item or someone acting suspiciously.
If you see something suspicious, please tell a police officer or member of the security team as soon as possible.
