13-man squad named to face Kent in the Vitality County Championship
Head coach Dale Benkenstein has named a 13-man squad for Lancashire’s return to Vitality County Championship action at Kent, starting on Sunday.
Nathan Lyon returns to the matchday squad for Canterbury, ahead of the penultimate match of his spell for the Club, whilst Lancashire Academy products, left-arm spinner Charlie Barnard and pace bowler Harry Birkman have been both been included in the County Championship squad for the first time, after featuring regularly for the Second XI so far this summer.
Tom Aspinwall (rib), Jack Morley (abdominal) and Mitch Stanley (side) all remain sidelined after suffering injuries during the first block of Vitality Blast fixtures. Josh Boyden has also been ruled out after sustaining a concussion whilst batting during this week’s Second XI match against Essex.
Luke Wood and Saqib Mahmood are having their workloads managed after featuring regularly in the opening stages of the Blast. Lancashire also remain without England T20 World Cup quartet Jos Buttler, Tom Hartley, Liam Livingstone and Phil Salt.
