Chris Green re-signs for Lancashire Cricket

Lancashire Cricket is delighted to announce the signing of Chris Green on a two-year T20 contract.

After his successful overseas spell with the Club this summer, the Australian all-rounder has committed to Lancashire Lightning for the duration of the Vitality Blast group stages in 2025 and 2026.

Green’s contract will also include additional appearances in the Vitality County Championship and Metro Bank One-Day Cup competitions, subject to availability across both seasons.

The 31-year-old made a key impact at Emirates Old Trafford during the 2024 season, picking up 14 wickets with his off-spin and adding 155 runs at a strike above 160 in the Blast.

Green made a further six appearances in the One-Day Cup, scoring 216 runs - including his maiden List A century against Hampshire – taking five wickets and also featuring in the County Championship draw against Nottinghamshire in Southport.

With a strong pedigree in T20 cricket, Green has featured in some of the world’s leading T20 leagues including the Big Bash League captaining Sydney Thunder, the Caribbean Premier League captaining Antigua and Barbuda Falcons and the Indian Premier League with Kolkata Knight Riders.

Green also made his T20 International debut for Australia against India in December 2023.

Speaking about his return to Lancashire for the next two seasons, Chris Green said: “I absolutely loved my first year with the Club and I am even more excited to be coming back for the next two seasons – I can’t wait to join up with the team again next summer.

“It is a really special group of players at Lancashire. I know that there are big things to come, and I am looking forward to playing my part in that during 2025 and 2026.

“I really felt the support from all of the Red Rose Members and supporters this summer and I can’t wait to see you all again next season at Emirates Old Trafford.”

Director of Cricket Performance Mark Chilton also commented: “One of our key priorities heading into the winter was to secure Chris’ services so we are really pleased to get this deal done early and to have his commitment to playing for Lancashire in the Vitality Blast for the next two years.

“Chris made a huge impact for us on the field and had a number of options and offers to play around the world, but we are delighted that he has committed to being here at Emirates Old Trafford.

“Not only did Chris’ performances with bat and ball stand out this season but he also really impressed us with his leadership and his personality had a huge influence on the dressing room. We are all looking forward to welcoming him back to the Club next summer.”
