George Lavelle added to 14-man squad to face Essex
George Lavelle has been added to Lancashire's squad to face Essex in the third round of Vitality County Championship matches, starting tomorrow.
Head coach Dale Benkenstein has named an otherwise unchanged 14-man squad to travel to Chelmsford, following his side's draw with Hampshire that saw the Red Rose take home 13 points in Division One.
Lavelle has been rewarded for his fine form in the Second XI so far this season with scores of 80 and 64* against Yorkshire at Headingley last week, followed up with an unbeaten 107* against Durham yesterday at Emirates Old Trafford before being withdrawn to join up with the First Team squad.
Saqib Mahmood bowled 14 overs across two innings in the drawn Second XI match as he steps up his recovery from a lumbar stress fracture whilst Mitchell Stanley's rehabilitation from a knee injury continues.
The Red Rose remain without Jos Buttler, Liam Livingstone, Phil Salt and Luke Wood who are all currently playing in the Indian Premier League.
Lancashire Cricket squad to face Essex:
Keaton Jennings (c), Tom Aspinwall, Tom Bailey, George Balderson, George Bell, Jack Blatherwick, Josh Bohannon, Tom Bruce, Tom Hartley, Matthew Hurst, George Lavelle, Nathan Lyon, Luke Wells, Will Williams
How to follow:
The match will be broadcast live by Essex CCC, with ball-by-ball radio commentary from Chelmsford provided by BBC Radio Lancashire's Scott Read on the BBC Sport website and app.
For those unable to follow the action live, there will be regular updates on the Club's social media channels and Match Centre, with highlights also posted on LancsTV following each day's play.
