Lancashire beat Cumbria in 50 over warm-up in Sedbergh.

Lancashire win by 39 runs in reduced over match against Cumbria in 50 over cup warm-up fixture in Sedbergh.

Cumbria won the toss and decided to insert the visiting Lancashire side. With the rain having passed, the fixture was reduced to 43 overs including a 9-over powerplay.

Lancashire took a stable start with the openers George Bell and Harry Singh leading the side to 43-0 after the 9-over powerplay. Bell took himself to a brilliant half century during the 21stover, the milestone coming off 68 deliveries including five boundaries.

As the opening pair brought up their 100-run partnership, Singh reached his half century off 72 balls and five boundaries. The first wicket fell as Lancashire reached 122-1 and Bell was dismissed for 63.

The runs kept on coming for Lancashire as George Lavelle scored 42 runs coming in at number 3 for Lancashire before being dismissed to the Cumbria right arm-leg spinner, Nico Watt.

Watt finished the innings as pick of the bowlers for Cumbria with figures of 5-43 as Lancashire reached a first innings total of 231.

Tom Bailey opened the wicket taking for Lancashire as Cumbria fell to 22-1. This wicket was soon followed up as Josh Boyden picked up his first, aided by a tidy catch down the leg side from Bell back with the gloves.

Top order runs came from Evan Williams, who had got himself to 64 runs before being dismissed with a breath-taking catch from Lavelle off the bowling of Singh. The batter advanced down the crease but could only miss time the ball into the full stretched diving hand of Lavelle.

Wickets continuously fell to the end of the 43 overs, with the wickets being shared amongst the Lancashire bowling attack.

Cumbria finished on 192-9 off the 43 overs, with Lancashire victorious by 39 runs.

Lancashire travel to Sedbergh again on Wednesday to take on Durham in the first stage of the Metro Bank One-Day Cup.
