Lancashire Cricket becomes Disability Confident employer
Lancashire Cricket is delighted to announce that the Club has gained accreditation to the national Disability Confident employer scheme.
The announcement comes as Lancashire Cricket marks International Day of Persons with Disabilities today (Wednesday 3 December) which aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities across society
Disability Confident provides employers with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to attract, recruit, retain and develop disabled people in the workplace.
The programme encourages employers to think differently about disability and take action to improve how they recruit, retain and develop disabled people.
As part of becoming a Disability Confident Committed employer, Lancashire Cricket has committed to the following five actions:
- Ensure our recruitment process is inclusive and accessible
- Communicate and promote vacancies
- Offer interviews to disabled people
- Anticipate and provide reasonable adjustments as required
- Support any existing employee who acquires a disability or long-term health condition to stay in work
Helen Davies, Lancashire Cricket’s Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Lead said: “Through gaining Disability Confident accreditation, we are showing our commitment to encouraging applicants living with disabilities and long-term health conditions, in addition to supporting our current staff members.
“Together with Disability Confident, we want to ensure that people with disabilities have equal opportunities to fulfil their potential and realise their aspirations here at Emirates Old Trafford.
“This is the latest step on the Club’s ongoing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion action plan, which we have been undertaking over the last couple of years ,and we are proud of the journey we are taking to continue to ensure that Lancashire Cricket is leading the way for inclusivity.”
