Lancashire Cricket supports Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces Day
Lancashire Cricket is proud to be supporting Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces Day this weekend as Lancashire Lightning take on Worcestershire Rapids in the Vitality Blast at Emirates Old Trafford, whilst Lancashire Thunder play Sunrisers in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint trophy at Blackpool
As a game, cricket will celebrate Rainbow Laces from June 29 - July 7 to demonstrate its continued support for the LGBTQ+ community. It is the seventh year that the whole game has come together to support LGBTQ+ inclusion in cricket via the Rainbow Laces campaign, originally launched by Stonewall.
It will form part of the Red Rose Together initiative, which highlights the range of the Club’s key activities with the sole aim of supporting the growth of cricket across the North-West and champion the work that is undertaken to make cricket more accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable for everyone.
Lancashire Cricket’s Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Lead, Helen Davies said: “It’s hugely important that, as a Club, we promote initiatives such as Rainbow Laces Day to support LQBTQ+, diversity and inclusion across our game, sport and society in general.
“Equality and inclusion are something which is part of the culture and values of Lancashire Cricket. We want everyone who comes to Emirates Old Trafford to feel welcomed and it’s vital that we’re welcoming to people from as many different areas, cultures and background so they know that anybody can come and be part of the Red Rose.”
ECB Chief Executive Officer Richard Gould, added: “We’re very clear in our ambition to become the most inclusive team sport in England and Wales and campaigns like Rainbow Laces can help our game on that journey.
“We want the LGBTQ+ community to feel welcome and included in cricket, whether as players, fans or participants. It’s brilliant to see the game at professional and recreational level stand firmly behind LGBTQ+ inclusion and to see our game communicate its continued desire to be a game for everyone.”
