Lancashire name 14-man squad to face Surrey at the Oval
Head coach Dale Benkenstein has named a 14-man squad for Lancashire's return to Vitality County Championship action against Surrey at the Oval tomorrow.
16-year-old batter Rocky Flintoff and Indian all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer are both included in Lancashire's red ball squad for the first time and will be in contention to make their First-Class debuts for the Club, alongside left-arm seamer Josh Boyden who is included after impressing in the final three matches of the Metro Bank One-Day Cup.
Captain Keaton Jennings, Tom Hartley, Matty Hurst, Saqib Mahmood and Luke Wells all come back into the Red Rose squad after returning from The Hundred.
Phil Salt and Luke Wood are currently managing their workloads while Jack Morley has returned to Derbyshire on an initial two-match loan deal.
Lancashire Cricket squad to face Surrey:
Keaton Jennings (c), Tom Aspinwall, Tom Bailey, George Balderson, George Bell, Josh Bohannon, Josh Boyden, Rocky Flintoff, Tom Hartley, Matty Hurst, Venkatesh Iyer, Saqib Mahmood, Luke Wells, Will Williams
Lancashire’s bid for a third Championship win of the season sees them take on reigning champions and current Division One leaders Surrey, who are chasing a third successive title.
The Red Rose recovered from a tricky start, not winning any of the first five matches, to win two of the last four, drawing the other two in that latter sequence.
Wins at home to Durham and away to Kent have moved Keaton Jennings and company to seventh in the table, 10 points above the relegation zone.
