Lancashire Thunder announces double signing of Carter and Potts

Lancashire Thunder is delighted to confirm the double signing of Darcey Carter and Grace Potts as the Club prepares to transition into Tier One ahead of the 2025 season.

Scottish international Carter makes the permanent move from South East Stars after joining Lancashire Thunder on loan for the final block of Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy matches last season.

The 19-year-old all-rounder has made 30 international appearances for Scotland, including featuring in all four group stage matches at the recent T20 World Cup in the UAE.

Seam bowler Potts joins Lancashire Thunder from Central Sparks where the 22-year-old has played since the 2020 season.

During the 2024 season, Potts claimed 15 wickets from 12 appearances in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and a further 12 wickets from 11 matches in the Charlotte Edwards Cup.

Potts is familiar with Emirates Old Trafford having represented Manchester Originals five times during The Hundred in 2022 before spending the last two editions with Trent Rockets.

Speaking about the signings, Regional Director of Women’s Cricket David Thorley said: “I am really pleased to welcome both Darcey and Grace to Emirates Old Trafford, during an incredibly exciting time for us as we make the transition from regional cricket into Tier One status next season.

“Darcey impressed during her loan spell at the end of last season and fit into our squad really naturally. She will have gained huge experience during Scotland’s T20 World Cup campaign, and we are looking forward to working with her on a full-time basis throughout the winter and into the coming season.

“Grace has been a consistent performer with the ball for Central Sparks during the last couple of seasons and will bring another exciting option to our attack. We know about Grace from her time with the Originals and once we had explored her availability, it was a no brainer to bring her into Lancashire Thunder.”
