Lancashire Thunder sign Darcey Carter on loan

Lancashire Thunder sign Darcey Carter on loan

Lancashire Thunder have completed the loan signing of Scottish international all-rounder Darcey Carter from South East Stars for the final four matches of this season’s Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.

19-year-old Carter plays county cricket for Kent, regional cricket for South East Stars and has made 26 appearances on the international stage for Scotland.

A spin bowling all-rounder, Carter was nominated for the ICC Women’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year Award in 2023 alongside Phoebe Litchfield, Marufa Akter and Lauren Bell.

Carter will go straight into the Lancashire Thunder squad to face her parent-club South East Stars at Beckenham on Monday – after receiving dispensation from the Stars to play.

Speaking about the signing, David Thorley, regional director of women’s cricket said: “We are delighted to welcome Darcey to Lancashire Thunder on a loan deal for the remainder of the season.

"Darcey is a player of very high potential, as shown by her performances with Scotland and her subsequent nomination for the ICC’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year alongside three young stars.

“As a spin bowling all-rounder, she will strengthen the depth of our batting and bowling stocks for the final four matches in this summer’s Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy."
