6.03pm, WICKET & CLOSE Day 3
Somerset 2nd inns 204-6 Rew 24* need 189 more runs to win
Luke Wells strikes in the last over of the day as Kasey Aldridge plays loosely at a faster delivery and edges behind to Matty Hurst.

Lancashire are four wickets away and we will be back for one final day of the home season tomorrow.

5.58pm
Somerset 2nd inns 203-5 Rew 24* Aldridge 18* need 190 more runs to win
Late drama as James Rew hooks a short ball from Anderon Phillip that falls inches short of George Balderson racing in from fine leg.

5.30pm
Somerset 2nd inns 181-5 Rew 11* Aldridge 10* need 212 more runs to win
8 overs are left today and James Rew and Kasey Aldridge are digging in to try and be at the crease at stumps.

The pair are pushing ones and twos when the opportunity arrives and are taking no chances.

The floodlights have just come on, as indeed has Anderson Phillip for one final burst.

5.05pm
Somerset 2nd inns 167-5 Rew 2* Aldridge 6* need 226 more runs to win
Close! Kasey Aldridge flicks Tom Bailey high to midwicket but Anderson Phillip, who comes racing in from the deep, puts in the dive but can't cling on to a really difficult chance. Great effort though.

4.45pm WICKET
Somerset 2nd inns 155-5 Rew 0* Aldridge 0* need 238 more runs to win
A buoyed up George Balderson has produced a snorter to find an edge off Tom Kohler-Cadmore on 23 that was snapped up around his ankles by George Bell.

This is a great spell by Balderson.

4.25pm WICKET
Somerset 2nd inns 146-4 Kohler-Cadmore 9* Rew 0* need 247 more runs to win
Archie Vaughan comes half forward to a good length ball from George Balderson and edges to George Bell at first slip for 68.

4.00pm
Somerset 2nd inns 131-3 Vaughan 59* Kohler-Cadmore 9* need 261 more runs to win
A positive start by Somerset after the break with Tom Kohler-Cadmore striking a couple of nicely timed drives for four.

3.25pm, WICKET & TEA Day 3
Somerset 2nd inns 120-3 Vaughan 50* need 272 more runs to win
Anderson Phillip strikes trapping Tom Abell lbw for 5 with a fast delivery.

An excellent ten minutes for Lancashire has given this run chase a new look.

3.14pm WICKET
Somerset 2nd inns 109-2 Vaughan 50* * need 283 more runs to win
What was I saying? Vaughan gets to his half century off 84 balls but Lammonby doesn't after driving over a Luke Wells delivery that crashes into his stumps!

Lancashire really needed that breakthrough just before tea.

3.10pm
Somerset 2nd inns 107-1 Vaughan 49* Lammonby 49* need 284 more runs to win
Archie Vaughan and Tom Lammonby have posted their century partnership from 160 balls and both are looking settled and on the verge of reaching half centuries.

2.40pm
Somerset 2nd inns 78-1 Vaughan 28* Lammonby 41* need 314 more runs to win
George Balderson has a big shout for an lbw against Archie Vaughan turned down but it looked close.

And not so good news arrives from Canterbury where Notts have beaten Kent to widen the gap between themselves and the bottom two.

It means that if Lancashire win this game, and gain maximum points in defeating Worcestershire next week, Notts would need 10 points from their last match to stay up.

2.10pm
Somerset 2nd inns 55-1 Vaughan 21* Lammonby 28* need 337 more runs to win
Now Tom Lammonby is living dangerously, edging inbetween first and second slip just above shoulder height off George Balderson. A very difficult chance, but a chance none the less.

1.55pm
Somerset 2nd inns 38-1 Vaughan 17* Lammonby 16* need 355 more runs to win
Archie Vaughan gets a life on 16, dropped in the slips off Tom Bailey.

1.35pm WICKET
Somerset 2nd inns 21-1 Vaughan 12* Lammonby 5* need 372 more runs to win
Tom Bailey has wicket with his second ball after Andy Umeed, having danced down the wicket to hammer the first ball through the covers for four, tries to repeat the shot and is comprehensively bowled.

That was a strange start to the Somerset innings.

Since then Archie Vaughan and Tom Lammonby have compiled 17 more run in more sedate manner.

12.38pm, LUNCH Day 3 - SOMERSET NEED 393 RUNS TO WIN
Lancashire 2nd inns 398 all out, Phillip 3*
George Balderson is the final wicket to fall after he swings at Brett Randell and is bowled for 47.

12.28pm WICKET
Lancashire 2nd inns 388-9 Balderson 40* Phillip 0* lead by 382 runs
Jack Leach has a second wicket this morning as he traps Tom Bailey lbw for 1.

That wicket means lunch will be delayed until either 1pm or at the fall of the 10th wicket.

12.20pm WICKET
Lancashire 2nd inns 386-8 Balderson 39* Bailey 0* lead by 380 runs
Luke Wells and George Balderson have been far more attacking over the last twenty minutes but Wells has gone, lbw reverse sweeping at Jack Leach for a fabulous 130.

The pair set a new 8th wicket record partnership for Lancashire v Somerset of 135 beating the previous best of 132 between David Lloyd & Barry Wood at Weston-super-Mare in 1976.

12.00pm
Lancashire 2nd inns 351-7 Wells 114* Balderson 22* lead by 345 runs
The century partnership between Luke Wells and George Balderson has arrived from 254 balls and the lead is approaching 350.

11.30am
Lancashire 2nd inns 333-7 Wells 101* Balderson 17* lead by 327 runs
So far, so good for Lancashire with Luke Wells pulling Lewis Gregory for six over backward square leg and going on to reach his century from 196 balls when cutting Kasey Aldridge for four.

What a vital innings and partnership this has been.

10.55am
Lancashire 2nd inns 308-7 Wells 84* Balderson 9* lead by 302 runs
It has been a cagey start to the day plus we had a lengthy delay for a ball change but Luke Wells has driven Lewis Gregory straight for four to take the lead past 300.

10.33am
Lancashire 2nd inns 302-7 Wells 78* Balderson 9* lead by 296 runs
Somerset open the bowling with Craig Overton and Lewis Gregory, and George Balderson driven the sixth ball of the day from Overton for four to bring up the Lancashire 300.

That shot has also brought up the 50 partnership off 131 balls.

9.30am
The sun continues to shine on this third morning of our Vitality County Championship match against Somerset where Lancashire have built a substantial lead of 292 runs with three wickets remaining.

Play is due to start at 10.30am when Luke Wells (78 not out) and George Balderson (5 not out) resume Lancashire's second innings.
