Following the inspection at 4pm, play has been abandoned for the day.
3.40pm, TEA Day 3

Tea is now being taken and the umpires will make an inspection at 4pm.
It is still raining however.
2.40pm, RAIN DELAY

Steady drizzle is falling and there appears to be little chance of play resuming anytime soon.

Play has not resumed after lunch with more covers in place and darker, more threatening clouds overhead (as shown in the above photo).

With the players off for rain, lunch will be taken at 1.10pm rather than the re-arranged time of 1.30pm announced earlier.
In the meantime the weather has brightened and the rain has more or less eased off. The covers remain in place for now as a precaution.

Halfway through the fourth over of the day rain has taken the players from the field.

The third day is under way with Will Williams bowling the first over.

Good news- play will start at 12.30pm. Lunch is at 1.30pm, Tea will be at 4.10pm, Close of play 6.30pm or when 80 overs have been bowled.

The umpires have made an inspection and due to the wet conditions will return to make a further inspection at 11.30am.

Good morning from Emirates Old Trafford where it is sunny and windy once again.
The less good news is that we have had another overnight deluge and the groundstaff are currently mopping up and the umpires are out inspecting conditions.
