A poor day for Lancashire comes to a close with Hampshire well in the ascendancy at the halfway stage.

Liam Dawson has a fourth wicket as Tom Hartley slogs high and is caught for 2 by James Vince running back from mid-off.

Venkatesh Iyer has hammered James Fuller over midwicket for six and Bell clipped Dawson to square leg for four in a good, steadying partnership of 48 runs.

But that comes crashing to an end after James Fuller pulls off a sensational one-handed catch at cover off the bowling of Kyle Abbott diving to his right to end Iyer's stay at 27.

George Bell and Venkatesh Iyer are fighting hard to resist the Hampshire attack but Bell this time late cutting Fuller to third man for four more.

George Bell square cuts Fuller for four to bring a bit of relief after a chastening post tea spell for the Red Rose.

Toby Albert takes a cracking diving catch at gully as George Balderson steers a drive off a swinging John Turner delivery behind square.

This is a big collapse by Lancashire who have now lost five wickets for 20 in 11.1 overs either side of tea.

Two balls later and Josh Bohannon has gone, driving into the hands of Tom Prest at short midwicket off John Turner after a battling 43.

Another wicket in the second over after tea and it's Dawson who has struck again with Fletcha Middleton grabbing a bat/pad at silly mid off to dismiss Matty Hurst for 4.

Josh Bohannon and Matty Hurst face a rebuilding job after tea following those two wickets just before the break.

Hampshire had kept things tight with not much assistance coming from the pitch this afternoon and it paid dividends. Dawson has 2-16 so far.

Rocky Flintoff plays a huge slog/sweep at Liam Dawson and skies the ball miles into the air caught comfortably by Felix Organ at midwicket who barely had to move.

Was that a bit high? The umpire thinks not and Keaton Jennings goes lbw to Liam Dawson for 56.

Dawson has bowled a good spell of 9-2-14-1 so far and Hampshire have their breakthrough as the 2nd wicket partnership of 90 comes to an end.

Fifty to Keaton Jennings off 113 balls including 7 fours.

That's the sixth time the skipper has reached fifty this season and Keaton has now passed the 900 runs mark this season.

Josh Bohannon has now reached 5,000 first-class runs at an average of 45 and both he and Keaton Jennings are going along nicely here having added 76 runs for the second wicket so far.

Hampshire make a double change with Turner and Fuller replacing Abbott and Abbas.

Keaton Jennings and Josh Bohannon are making steady progress, both having hit nicely timed leg side boundaries in the last couple of overs.

Four overs into the afternoon session with ten runs added as Hampshire pair Abbott and Abbas continue in the visitor's attack.

Hampshire's morning after the visitors last wicket plundered 59 runs more today and then snapped up that bonus of a wicket just before lunch.

Lancashire with a lot of work to do this afternoon.

Lancashire lose a wicket just before lunch as Luke Wells looks to drive Kyle Abbott but gets a big inside edge onto his stumps and is out for 6.

That's a huge bonus for the visitors.

Finally Lancashire get that last wicket but what damage has it done?

The partnership between Dawson, 104 not out, and Muhammad Abbas ends when Abbas slices a drive off Luke Wells to George Balderson at gully having made just 1 run in that last wicket partnership of 72.

But that was a great century by Dawson who attacked superbly this morning.

Luke Wells finished with 4 for 94.

That is a tremendous century by Liam Dawson who goes to three figures from his 125th ball faced after hitting 5 sixes and 8 eight fours!

He has received great support from Mo Abbas who has contributed 1 run to this partnership of 68 runs.

Lancashire have turned to spin with Luke Wells and Tom Hartley operating in tandem.

That's the 50 partnership between Dawson and Abbas for the tenth wicket and they have added 35 in 10 overs so far this morning.
