7.00pm, CLOSE Day 1
Lancashire 1st inns 344-8 (96 overs) Jennings 183* Lyon 6*
That was an astonishing last session during which Keaton Jennings scored 112 to bat Lancashire into a strong position.

Outstanding stuff from the Lancashire captain who will resume his innings alongside Nathan Lyon in the morning.

6.29pm
Lancashire 1st inns 300-8 (88 overs) Jennings 151* Lyon 0*
Keaton Jennings reaches his 150 off 226 balls, 22 fours & 2 sixes!

6.25pm

Tom Bailey and Will Williams have both departed in quick succession to change the nature of this day once more.

6.10pm
Lancashire 1st inns 277-6 (84 overs) Jennings 144* Bailey 15*
Keaton Jennings has another six after hammering Olly Stone onto the railway line adjacent to the ground.

5.40pm
Lancashire 1st inns 234-6 (77 overs) Jennings 111* Bailey 5*
Chris Green's maiden Red Rose innings proved to be a short one as is trapped lbw for 9 by Lyndon James from a delivery that looked to keep a shade low.

5.25pm
Lancashire 1st inns 222-5 (74 overs) Jennings 108* Green 5*
Chris Green strides to the crease and is the 709th player for Lancashire in first-class cricket.

And Keaton Jennings has joined Ken Grieves, David Lloyd and Graeme Fowler in becoming the only Red Rose batters to made two centuries at Southport.

5.04pm
Lancashire 1st inns 208-5 (69 overs) Jennings 103* Green 0*
George Balderson edges Paterson to second slip for 41 where Calvin Harrison takes a good diving catch. That breaks an excellent partnership of 88 runs.

4.57pm
Lancashire 1st inns 208-4 (67 overs) Jennings 103* Balderson 41*
A second Southport century for Keaton Jennings who goes to three figures off 179 balls, 1 six, 16 fours, after square cutting Dillon Pennington.

4.40pm
Lancashire 1st inns 195-4 (64 overs) Jennings 91* Balderson 40*
Keaton Jennings and George Balderson have fought back splendidly with this partnership now worth 75 runs after Balderson lofts Liam Patterson-White for consecutive sixes!

4.15pm
Lancashire 1st inns 153-4 (57 overs) Jennings 72* Balderson 22*
Notts start the final, 41-over, session with Liam Patterson-White and Olly Stone taking up the attack.

3.50pm, TEA Day 1
Lancashire 1st inns 150-4 (55 overs) Jennings 71* Balderson 20*
Keaton Jennings gets the applause as the Lancashire skipper reaches the pavilion unbeaten on 71 and it has been an excellent effort by the Red Rose captain who has held the innings together superbly so far.

3.25pm
Lancashire 1st inns 120-4 (47 overs) Jennings 66* Balderson 0*
Notts have bowled a good accurate line and length with the intent of applying pressure by drying up the run scoring, with 9 runs scored in the last 7 overs, and it has brought reward as Matty Hurst chips Lyndon James to Olly Stone at midwicket for 2.

2.50pm
Lancashire 1st inns 111-3 (40 overs) Jennings 61* Hurst 0*
The ball after he had clipped Dillon Pennington through square leg for four, George Bell edges to second slip for 8.

2.25pm
Lancashire 1st inns 93-2 (34 overs) Jennings 50* Bell 4*
Keaton Jennings drives Stone imperiously for four and then picks up the single to reach his fifty from 93 balls with 1 six & 8 fours!

Great effort by the skipper.

2.20pm
Lancashire 1st inns 81-2 (33 overs) Jennings 42* Bell 0*
Keaton Jennings goes on the attack pulling Paterson over square leg for six, the ball going about 2-3 feet over the head of Jack Haynes who had been positioned on the boundary for that shot.

2.15pm
Lancashire 1st inns 71-2 (31 overs) Jennings 32* Bell 0*
The first runs for five overs arrive after Keaton Jennings square cuts Dane Paterson for four.

1.53pm
Lancashire 1st inns 67-2 (26 overs) Jennings 28* Bell 0*
Joe Clarke must be the most relieved man in Southport because, after dropping a straightforward Bohannon edge off Stone, the wicketkeeper held on to another edge by the Red Rose batter off the very next ball.

Bohannon has gone for 25 and Notts have an early session breakthrough as sunshine breaks through for the first time today.

1.45pm
Lancashire 1st inns 63-1 (24 overs) Jennings 26* Bohannon 23*
Back after the break and Josh Bohannon crashes Olly Stone for four high over the fielder at cover.

Dillon Pennington is sharing the bowling duties at the start of the afternoon.

1.00pm, LUNCH Day 1
Lancashire 1st inns 59-1 (23 overs) Jennings 26* Bohannon 19*
Josh Bohannon has played the shot of the morning driving Dillon Pennington off the back foot through the covers for four. The bowler nearly hits back hurrying one past the outside edge.

Overall that truncated session has just about been shaded by Lancashire who will probably be happy to have lost just one wicket after being put in.

12.40pm
Lancashire 1st inns 45-1 (17 overs) Jennings 25* Bohannon 6*
After a watchful start Josh Bohannon gets his 22nd delivery faced away to the extra cover boundary after driving Paterson forcefully.

12.27pm
Lancashire 1st inns 34-1 (15 overs) Jennings 20* Bohannon 2*
Play resumes with no overs lost after a 22 minute delay with four leg byes coming from the first ball as Paterson clips Jennings' pads.

12.05pm, RAIN DELAY
Lancashire 1st inns 29-1 (14.4 overs) Jennings 19* Bohannon 2*
Rain has forced the players off the pitch after 65 minutes play.

Dillon Pennington's lively opening spell had just ended with figures of 6-4-3-0 and he came close to putting a one on the final column on a couple of occasions.

A nice moment for Chris Green came earlier when he was presented with his Red Rose cap by Keaton Jennings ahead of making his Lancashire first-class debut.

Chris becomes the 709th player in first-class cricket for Lancashire.

11.45am
Lancashire 1st inns 26-1 (11 overs) Jennings 18* Bohannon 0*
It's Dane Paterson who makes the breakthrough, nipping one back to clip Luke Wells' off stump after the Red Rose opener had made 7.

11.25am
Lancashire 1st inns 21-0 (7 overs) Wells 3* Jennings 18*
Lively opening spells from Stone and Pennington have kept the Notts slip cordon on their toes as both have tested Jennings and Wells outside off stump. But Jennings has steered a couple of boundaries down to third man while a leg glance to fine leg bounced up off the boundary rope and into one of the back gardens at the Harrod Drive End.

Dane Paterson has now replaced Olly Stone.

11.05am
Lancashire 1st inns 2-0 (1 over) Wells 1* Jennings 1*
Olly Stone is bowling the first over of the day to Luke Wells from the Grosvenor Road End.

Those spectators hoping to see James Anderson in action will have to wait a while but they can watch a future England fast bowler in action as Dillon Pennington, who was announced in the squad for the first two Tests against West Indies, is sharing the new ball.

10.35am
TOSS: Nottinghamshire who have elected to bowl.

The umpires are out in the middle chatting to the groundstaff while the wicket is being rolled, so all the signs are that we will get under way at 11am unless there is any further rain.

9.45am
Better news now at Southport as the covers are being taken off and the overhead conditions have brightened. Fingers crossed we will start on time but we will have to wait for the umpires to check conditions.

9.00am
Good morning from an overcast Trafalgar Road ahead our Vitality County Championship match against Nottinghamshire.

There has been some light rain at Southport this morning and the covers remain in place on the square at present.

Lancashire, buoyed by two wins in their last three games, will be hoping to reverse the result of the first Championship meeting with Nottinghamshire in mid-May when a Haseeb Hameed double century helped the Trent Bridge outfit record a nine-wicket victory.

That has been the only win in the competition so far by today’s visitors who have since drawn three matches to sit in sixth place in the table on 92 points, five points ahead of Lancashire who are eighth in the standings.

TEAM NEWS
