Member Update: April 2024

Member Update: April 2024

An update to the Club's Members on a number of topics including the Annual General Meeting, two upcoming Members' 'open houses' and more.

Member Update – The Hundred

The Club will host two Members’ ‘open house’ update sessions between 10-11am on each of Friday 3 May and Saturday 4 May, ahead of days 1 and 2 of Lancashire’s next home Vitality County Championship fixture against Kent at Emirates Old Trafford.

The informal sessions will provide Members with a further update following continued discussions between the ECB and First-Class Counties regarding the future of The Hundred and potential external investment into the eight teams. This follows on from the Members’ Forum that the Club held at the end of February on the same subject, and the commitment made at the forum to keep Members updated. We have provided two separate timeslots to enable as many Members as possible to participate in the update sessions and the Club will also provide a summary which will be uploaded to the official website following both sessions.

The sessions will take place in the Club Suite, on the second floor of the Pavilion. Senior representatives from the Club – including Board Members – will be present to provide relevant information and to take questions from Members. To reiterate, these sessions will provide a specific update around the likely framework of The Hundred going forward, following up on the previously communicated key elements:

  • Should the Club accept an allocation of shares, at no cost to the Club, in Manchester Originals (which is currently 100% owned by the ECB)?

  • Should the Club consider receiving a no obligation cash payment to reinvest back into cricket infrastructure/pay down debt from the sale of any ECB shares in the eight The Hundred teams?

Annual General Meeting

This year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place in The Point on Thursday 30 May 2024, starting at 4:15pm.

The AGM will form part of the Club’s T20 double header that day, as Thunder take on Central Sparks (1pm start) in the Charlotte Edwards Cup, before Lancashire Lightning play Durham (7pm start) in the Vitality Blast.

Those attending will also be able to enjoy the exclusive facilities in The Point during the matches - with a complementary buffet, as well as a free drink token, also provided for all eligible Members attending the AGM. Following on from the AGM, and only accessible by AGM attendees, there will also be a high-quality cricket panel hosted by Warren Hegg and featuring current/former players. Further details will be confirmed in due course.

Members who have attended the AGM will also be welcome to stay in The Point for the duration of the Vitality Blast fixture.

The timings for the day are as follows:

  • 1pm – Thunder vs Central Sparks (T20)
  • 4:15pm – AGM commences in the Point
  • 6pm (or later if the AGM finishes later) – Buffet food service and bar opens in The Point
  • 6:15pm –Cricket content session in The Point
  • 7pm – Lancashire Lightning vs Durham (T20)

Whilst the AGM will be available to watch virtually – via a pre-registration link, similar to the Members’ Forum in February – those joining digitally will not be able to actively participate. However, Members will be able to pre-submit questions.

We encourage as many Members to attend in person as possible. As a Member, you have the right to vote on important issues that will affect the future of Lancashire Cricket.

All eligible Members are welcome to join the AGM and we encourage all those attending to take their seat by 4:15pm. Members not attending the AGM will not be permitted into The Point for the panel, food and drink or to watch the Vitality Blast match.

Annual Accounts, AGM supplementary items and Electronic Voting

For the first time, all Members who have provided their email addresses to the Club will receive the AGM papers with the Annual Report and Accounts by email this year. The Club is working with an external provider, Mi-Voice, to help manage this year’s AGM and facilitate electronic voting.

Mi-Voice has a track record of managing thousands of elections for organisations in the private and public sector since 2006, including successfully supporting Surrey County Cricket Club for their General Committee Elections.

For Members who do not have an email address, the Club will post out all AGM papers, including the Annual Report and Accounts, in the usual way. If any Member would like to request a physical copy of the Accounts, please email [email protected] with your postal address and Membership number.

As set out in the Club’s rules, only Members who had paid their membership fees for 2024 by 1 April 2024 are eligible to receive AGM papers and vote on the AGM resolutions.

All emails will be received from the following email address [email protected], so please look out for these (including in junk/spam email folders). We are currently planning to email out the AGM papers during week commencing 29 April 2024.
