Thunder and Lancashire Lightning ease to wins in Bangalore
Thunder and Lancashire Lightning both completed victories in Bangalore to continue their winning ways on the Club's pre-season tour during another T20 double header live on LancsTV.
Thunder eased to victory by 9 wickets in the opening match of the day at the KCSA Three Ovals Stadium.
After Ellie Threlkeld won the toss and elected to field, Thunder took regular wickets to restrict the Bangalore Representative XI before eventually bowling them out for 84 with three balls of the 20 overs remaining.
Phoebe Graham (2 for 17) and Tara Norris (2 for 13) did the damage up top with the new ball before spinner Hannah Jones picked up 2 for 11 and bowled tightly during the middle overs.
The innings came to an abrupt end as the final four wickets fell in four balls across two overs as Naomi Dattani completed a team hat-trick, which included a run out, by finishing the tail off with figures of 3 for 13.
In pursuit of 85, Thunder openers Fi Morris and Dattani, fresh from her bowling heroics, raced out of the blocks to score 76 without loss in the powerplay with Morris bringing up her half-century before falling for 59 from 25 balls - including 11 fours and a huge six that cleared the stadium.
Threlkeld (1*) joined Dattani (25*) to hit the winning runs as Thunder completed an impressive victory in the main game before once again beating their opponents in an eight over per side match ahead of Lancashire Lightning's T20 against a KSCA XI.
In the second part of the double header, Keaton Jennings won the toss and chose to bat first in the afternoon Bangalore heat.
Lancashire Lightning started strongly with Jennings (25), Luke Wells (26) and Josh Bohannon (17) all making starts as Dale Benkenstein's side reached 89 for 2 at the halfway point.
George Bell (35) and Steven Croft (29) took control during the second half of the innings before Matty Hurst added some late impetus with 22* from 12 balls to take Lightning to 171-7 from 20 overs.
Tom Aspinwall starred with the ball as he picked up 4 for 10 - including two wickets in the powerplay - with support from the spin of Jack Morley (2 for 26) and Steven Croft (2 for 23) as Lancashire turned the screw on the KSCA XI.
Luke Wells also picked up a wicket before Will Williams completed the victory by 50 runs as Rao skied one into the gloves of Bell to complete a resounding win for the Red Rose in India.
