Arav Shetty signs short-term deal with Lancashire

Lancashire Cricket can announce that Arav Shetty has signed a short-term contract with the Club for the duration of this season’s Metro Bank One-Day Cup.

A spin bowling all-rounder, Shetty who is a product of the Lancashire Academy, has put in a string of impressive performances for the Club’s Second XI this summer.

In addition to this, the 21-year-old has also been featuring for the South Asian Cricket Academy (SACA) and becomes the first graduate of SACA to sign professional terms for Lancashire.

Across 53 matches for Lancashire’s Second XI, Shetty has scored 1,546 runs at an average of 32 and he has taken 45 wickets with his off breaks at an average of 31.

Shetty will be available for the 50-over friendly against Cheshire on Sunday 3 August at Sedbergh School before the Metro Bank One-Day Cup begins on Tuesday 5 August against Northants Steelbacks at the same venue.

Interim Men’s Head Coach, Steven Croft, said: “We are delighted to have Arav signed up to bolster our squad for the upcoming Metro Bank One-Day Cup.

“Since missing out on selection and leaving our Academy, Arav has gone away and worked hard to improve his game, impressing with SACA and the Second XI to earn this opportunity.

“Arav’s all-round ability provides us with a more than capable middle-order batting option and an additional spin bowling option with the ball and we are looking forward to watching how he goes during August.”
