Chris Peacock open letter post AGM
Board Member Chris Peacock, who is responsible for Member Services and Communications, has penned an open letter to the Club's Members, after the recent Annual General Meeting last month.
-
Dear Members,
I would like to start by sincerely thanking each and every one of you who took the time to attend this year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), whether in person or by voting digitally. It was fantastic to see such strong engagement once again, and your continued support and passion for the Red Rose is what makes our club so special.
Following the AGM, I wanted to share some thoughts and outline how we’re looking to evolve and further strengthen our relationship with you, our members.
Firstly, you will have seen the inaugural production of the Member Services Report – a summary of key issues raised by members throughout the year, whether via the Members’ Representative Group (MRG) or in direct communication with me. By publishing this report, I hope to highlight not just the concerns, but also the progress we are making to address them. It’s a step toward greater accountability and transparency, something I believe the majority of members wish to see more of.
I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has contributed to this report, including Members who have come forward with their thoughts and experiences, the Members’ Representative Group (MRG) for their diligent representation, and all our staff who have worked hard to resolve issues and support Members throughout the past year.
Secondly, you will have heard the Chair announce that he has asked me to lead a full review into member engagement at the club. I am currently planning how the review will run but fully intend to engage with as many members as possible in this process to provide the club with recommendations to consider ahead of next year’s AGM.
We wish to foster a vibrant, inclusive, and dynamic members club by conducting a comprehensive review of club, board and executive engagement with members. Through this process, we aim to strengthen trust, enhance transparency, and ensure that the voices, needs, and aspirations of all members are effectively heard and addressed. By prioritising open dialogue, mutual respect, and continuous improvement, we will lay the foundation for a stronger sense of community and shared purpose within the club.
I sincerely hope that all who wish to, will participate in this review so that we can achieve these ambitions. Everyone within the Board is very aware that some of our members may feel a disconnect from the club, and I want you to know that this genuinely breaks my heart. We are all members of our historic club, and given the Chair’s request, I’ve taken on this responsibility with the sole intention of helping every member feel like they belong. Our cricket club belongs to us all.
Finally, I would also like to officially welcome Chris Blackburn and Damian Owen to the MRG, with both having been democratically elected by the membership. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the entire MRG for their ongoing hard work, effort and dedication to representing our members.
Congratulations also to Gillian Singh who was elected on to the Board by members at the recent AGM. Gillian has extensive experience of working in sectors with a strong health and safety lens such as public transport and has developed a deep understanding of member communication, compliance and risk management. Gillian is a proud member of the club and will be a fantastic asset to the Board.
I would also like to congratulate Sue Grainger and Mike Moore on being named Vice-Presidents of Lancashire Cricket. Both have been steadfast supporters for many years, and I know how deeply they will value this well-deserved honour.
The minutes from this year’s AGM will follow in due course, as well as any follow ups that were noted during the meeting.
With thanks and warm regards,
Chris Peacock
